    The reason I don't is:
    • .
    • .
    • There's a definite increase in fuel usage beyond about 13,000km and it comes good once the service is done.
    • .
    • Have heard enough on BriSkoda about LL/Variable service vehicles that are up to their 6th service / 180,000km and it doesn't sound pretty
I would be really interesting to check the condition of the oil filter at 15,000km to see if it is geting clogged - this could lead to a drop in oil pressure which could contribute to the effects you noted and saw on BriSkoda

Let's just say I was not impressed (expletives thrown around).

I have already contacted them about both issues. The Service manager will call me on Monday.
What a bloody joke. They really think we're stupid don't they once sorted hooti, I think this is a classic name and shame instance. Let us know about your oil consumption test too, find out what exac oil they put in it also because through my findings, it seems to be the genuine VW branded stuff that burns through quicker than any other oil...,

    I can predict the future...

It is now five weeks since I took the car in to get the oil consumption fixed and this is the latest.
The new engine came, got put in, turned on and guess what? It doesn't work.
I went in to have a look at the car on Friday and the thing can barely even start with this 'new' engine. I am now back to square one of not knowing when I will get the car back but apparently I am getting another engine straight from the factory and it will be 2-3 weeks before it is even here.

I had a barney with the GM of the place but he wasn't much help at all. If anyone has any advice of how/where I can start getting some answers from that would be much appreciated.

If true, then I'd imagine a continual reduction in oil pressure would quickly reduce the service interval - but I don't precisely know how this system works, or if indeed oil pressure is even factored into the system's calculations.

Hope the problems get sorted very soon - do you at least have a free courtesy car?

But wow, two new motors in the space of two months - I wonder if Volkswagen HQ knows how much these guys are costing them.

That, or the engines VW are sending you from the factory are rubbish - which actually wouldn't be a surprise I suppose, given the experiences of quality (or lack thereof) people have had on this forum.

Miles, tell the GM that you have the right to reject the car now because according to the contract of sale, VGA and their representative being the dealership have failed in living up to their obligation in that contract of providing you with goods of a satisfactory condition. Say that you want something sorted immediately, then speak with a solicitor. They either give you another brand new car or refund you the money you paid for the vehicle.

And I'd imagine that if the rate of pressure drop is quite low, then it may be calculated to reach the minimum specification level by the 30,000km intervals. The small decrease in lubrication then could produce the effects noted by brad and the BriSkoda forum. To kill or confirm my speculation would need an example (more would be better) of a filter that had reached 15,000km to be flow tested vs a new one.

Just a heads up with my issue.

I sent an email to VWA regarding my car and generally not being happy with it.

Speaking with the Service Manager of my Local VW, no one will acknowledge that they did the damage and now the Service Manager is deciding whether he will replace the wheel or not. Let's just say that I will NEVER EVER EVER EVER EVER go back to that service centre AGAIN for any kind of servicing.

During the time I was speaking with the service manager I got a call from VWA regarding my email (pretty damn good response time).

They are going to chase the oil consumption issue and the damage done to my car on my behalf.

Hopefully this gets resolved without getting ugly.

slightly off topic perhaps but, given the oil temp gauge in GTI, what is the minimum temperature before I can flog the car in the morning...

Always, always, always let it warm up to temperature before hammering it.
