    1200km after piston jet replaced. Full dipstick still

    Ticking noise is the injectors, sounds like a sewing machine with the bonnet open.

    Almost 3000kms since the Injector Jets have been done, no movement on the Dipstick.

    Seems that VW have finally fixed the issue.

    I was the first person in Geelong to have this done... they have told me they have done 3/4 engine rebuilds over the 30 of Oil Consumers that they service (includes Fabia vRS) so this could be a fix.
    Have to have high oil consumption, the breathers installed and then high oil consumption.
    The worse I got was 1.5L use in about 900ks... before the Oil Jets were changed.

    Sounds like that should be done for any car using more than a couple of litres between services.

    For interest sake more than anything, can you explain to me what replacement of these oil injectors entails ie I assume it requires a pull down of the top of the motor?

    I do not have an oil consumption issue (yet!, fingers crossed), just a dry fine soot issue that I can live with.

    I dont know how they did it.someone here should be able to explain it.but yes, my exhaust tip is cleaner after replacement and no oil use after 1500km

    Requires sump off only, the oils squirters/injectors sit under the pistons in the cylinder bore. Cylinder one is the only tricky one to get out. Allow about 4h for the job however most will want the car overnight to do it properly, so they can let the sealant dry correctly and recheck for leaks.

    I'll have to reread the bulletin but im 90% sure all the repairs are done at once, shouldn't be doing the breathers(easy) and then injectors after(involves work). This is kinda showing that the dealers are abit half-arsed.

    Hey guys, just some uneducated input here.

    So, the "oil issue" is still rampant with the Polo? It's not solely restricted to just the GTi?
    I'm currently looking at buying a Polo GTi, a 2012 MY13 model. I do not know the type/model of the engine it has as yet.
    The car in question has been posted elsewhere on here, and it was at one time owned by a former (?) regular on here too.
    It is still relatively low k's @ 13500 approximately, and I'm guessing the guy offloaded it before any major oil problems arose...
    It is only a guess though? Maybe that's why he traded up?

    Anyway, just some background on myself, and some of my dealer interactions...
    I purchased new in 2010, a Golf GTI 5-door 6-speed manual.
    It has had its regular services all the way for the past 4 odd years, no real dramas.

    At just under 60k, it started to overheat (?) Check coolant level warning light come on.
    Now, the day this happened, I was on a trip to Brisbane with my elderly Mother, a very important trip mind you.
    We swung by my local agent (it was on the way in any case) to check things out.
    As you would assume, by the time someone came out to look, all had settled down again, and no warning light.
    So, our journey continued, with the assurance by our dealer that Service was only a phone call away...
    As it happened, the light came on again about 30k's further up the road.
    I pulled into the next service station, purchased some distilled water and topped it up after it had cooled.
    The problem has never arisen again to this day @ 68+ k's.
    It was checked thoroughly at its 60k service and no anomalies showed on the diagnostics (?)

    Fast forward to approx 65k, and the "check engine oil" light came on. Only 5k since the service. ?? Wow.
    I was no where near my dealer, so I just grabbed some oil from my local Auto One store. Topped up and it has been fine since.
    Now, I'm not the kind of guy who likes getting dirty these days, so my under hood work is really very limited.
    Servicing, I leave to the "experts". I'm not so sure VW really qualify as that these days from reading some of this.

    Could ANY of these excessive oil usage quandaries be put down to poor "run in"??
    My nephew always tells me I baby my car too much. "Unc, ya gotta give it a good squirt now and then..."
    Well, I do to be honest, he just hasn't seen it.
    I'm fortunate that my morning drive to work is under the cover of darkness. Early starts have their advantage and I make the most of having little traffic to contend with at these early hours.
    My "initial run in" period was carried out to the letter, and maybe this helped me get to 65k before any oil consumption arose??
    I'm no expert, only a viewer.
    Most cars use oil, that's a given, but these Polo's using as much as they do has me a little worried.
    A car @ 13 and a half k should still be in great condition, I sure hope this one that I'm after is in this boat.
    The downsize/down-grade (?) is something I've contemplated.
    It's not that I am unhappy with my Golf, quite the opposite actually, I LOVE it.
    It's just that I can save $$ by going the direction I am.
    Yes, I am not made of money, I had to finance the Golf, and will likely need to do the same to get my Polo, BUT, the repayment will nett me a saving of $200/month. Hard to argue with that.
    I hope to sell mine to a work colleague, he expressed much interest in it a short time back.
    The outstanding debt can be repaid in full, leaving me a nice deposit for the new car.
