Hey guys.
Just got my car serviced at Garry Cricks in Sunny Coast last Friday.
Asked them re engine oil consumption ... Was told 500mls per 1000km travelled is within the threshold?? Is that correct ? I have the CTHE engine on my 13.5 GTI.
Also wasn't really happy with their service... They had the car for 7 hours, and wasn't even touched till I called them to check... Finally got my car back after 9 hours at the dealer.
Positive side - they did give me a brand new Tiggy to drive around which was surprisingly a nice drive, couldn't get myself to let it park itself though... Lol
Thanks
Harry

Humm... I should RTFM again ... Way too many things to remember
I am using just about or a little under 500mls per 1000k... So I guess it's within the threshold.
Free top ups? Not sure if the Hervey Bay dealer would be too happy. He refused to match my original quote when I bought the car!! Hence why I ended up with Garry Cricks. Not sure if he is willing to give me free engine oil... I'll go get a 5l bottle to keep at home saves me the hassle
Thanks

Price of the oil is likely to be north of $80, will be interesting to see what you pay..

Just bought some Shell Helix Ultra Extra from Super Cheap Auto, for just - and I mean just! - under $80.
I decant 1 litre into a 1 litre bottle and keep it in the car. Check oil at every fill. And yes, the oil is expensive, but saves me lots of time. And still only a fraction of the running costs...

I use that in the polo and my BMW. Usually buy it from repco when on sale and then use my NRMA membership card to get an extra 5or 10% off. Sometimes they have a 20% off for members weekend. The membership is for the BMW but just having the non road sevice membership for something like $10 a year pays for itself in member benefits and discounts.

valvoline XL3 synpower is 504/507 & was on special at Repco recently for 5L / $60. That might take the pain out of constant top-ups for some.
Costco has Mobil1 5w-30 (silver label) for $60 for 6x 1qrt bottles (950ml). It's not 504/507 but if I needed something cheapish for top-ups I'd use it.

$80 for ease of mind and convenience is fine by me... Paid $79 for a 5l penrite enviro 5w30 from repco.
