Any truth in this?
    this does not sound correct to me either. Mongo's Fabia RS (with the same engine) is also a CAV and VW is wanting to change the squirters. That is not to say that this will be a good idea or that it will "fix" the problem (see Mongo's earlier comments at page 205). Also, noticed that those who had this done say that it just reduces the oil consumption sometimes and even then, it still continues to use a lot of oil. It seems more than obvious that after several years of this problem that VW have no clue as to what is wrong or how to really "fix" it. In the circumstances, people should really just lodge consumer claims with their local Tribunal in their State.

    my car is MY13.5 gti with CTH engine, owned it since new, 21k kms on the clock at moment.

    It consumes as much as 500ml every 1000kms when my wife drives it at "D" mode and black soot came out all around the hatch in days.
    However it consumes less than 500ml every 5000kms when I drive it with manual shift only and I can barely the the black soot after 2 weeks before I took it to a wash.

    Very very strange behavior of this little car.

    As I am driving this car at most of time therefore I never took it to the dealership for oil test. Regular check ups and oil top up by myself is sufficient. Maybe I am just lucky.

    After doing oil squirters on over 5 cars now, never had one return with oil consumption issues. So I would think that VW have found the solution..

    My dealer hadn't heard of the fix for my Fabia RS but after a little research they have agreed to change the squirters. Going to see them this week to book it in. Engine is the CAV by the way.

    This sounds like a promising development. Can anyone think of any possible problems that these modified oil squirters might cause? Sometimes these sorts of fixes cure the original issue, but cause other ones.
    Now gone.... 2012 Skoda Fabia RS

    That good to hear that some dealers will actually help you out and change certain parts and not just you stupid excuses. If you dont mind after you get your new part in to tell me the part number that would be great. The dealership quoted me roughly $400 to get an oil squitter replacement but like every dealer they said this part isnt a new one. Dont want to be spending $400 and it aint the right one.

    So...

    The technical bulletin/product information the dealer should be referring to is 2025520 which is currently in it's 9th revision to date(2025520/9).

    >CAV 438345 - optimised hose for crankcase ventilation, 03c 103 474 ad;
    >CTH 023901 - optimised air intake, 6r0 129 684 e;
    >CTH 165646 - oil injectors with 1.2mm diameter, 03c 103 157 a;
    Replace oil & filter;
    Update engine control module software, latest revision being 03c 906 027 AR with 9970 version.

    So basically if your getting around with a CAVE123456 equipped vehicle, you would need all three improved parts, etc.

    Thanks for the awesome information. I shall speak to my dealership and see what they say so althought the oil injectors has a CTH part number to it. It will still fit in a CAVE engine?
