Polo GTI High Oil Usage - Discussion Thread

Just got another top up yesterday. 1L in engine and 1L top up bottle. I am heading overseas soon, so didnt bother complaining about it yet.

Here is the usage so far:
Date Engine Oil Distance
08/2012 New Car 20km
10/2012 1L 1000km
31/10/2012 1L top up/1L bottle 2000km
17/12/2012 1L top up/1L bottle 3655km

Very disappointing numbers... So 4L topped up for 3655km... not cool at all...

i've travelled 3,500kms also. I just checked my oil level on the dip stick and it's reading full

Awesome, I must have the lemon.

Loving the way the car drives, but the oil consumption sux. When I am back from holidays in Feb, I will complain and try and get something done.

Just checked my oil level and it seems im down to level C after getting refilled a couple months back...
im going to sydney this weekend so i will definitely go in and see whether theyll refill me back up. wouldnt want to have low oil whilst on the way up!

EDIT: to be exact got it refilled on the 15/10...2 months ago!

My MY13 is cav engine number also so it's not just the 12.5 models

damn so the dealer was possibly telling me fibs with my numbers? i havent yet seen it on paper

No that it helps any of you guys but I'm up in Sydney seeing my cousin who has a Subaru XV and even she said she has major oil consumption issues. (About 1L/1000km)

She has asked the dealer what the next move is but the dealer said that its currently effecting all 2012 XV's and they are investigating the problem. In the mean time they can get free oil top ups. She isn't particularly happy as she lives in Singleton NSW and the only Subaru dealer is in Metford 50km away, so when the oil light comes in she can barely make it to get it topped up.

Get the dealer to give her a few 1l bottles of oil

My usage so far:

Sept 14 2012 - Picked up brand new car.
Nov 9 2012 - ~3500km / first top up (was half way on the dipstick)
Dec 20 2012 - ~7000km - currently 2/3 marked on the dipstick

zzz at least its improved a tiny bit over time I guess...

Guys, go get the Breather hose was replaced! I got mine done last week and it doesn't chew up as much oil as it use to!
