Interesting. Where did you hear that mmmRacer?

I only ask because I do ask APR every couple of months where they are at with the CTHE tune, and upon getting in contact with APR again literally just today, I was told:

"Still no update from APR on CTHE development"

I'm starting to wonder if perhaps the tune for the CTHE has just been unofficially scrapped?

Sounds extreme I know, but when you see the constant stream of the other projects on their facebook page about all the new up and coming tunes and products available for much newer vehicle's, while we constantly get told "it's a few weeks away" month after month, season after season, it does make you wonder.

Of course, as a CTHE owner, I really hope that's not the case!

Just so you know. I believe that you can get an APR tune for your 2013 GTI now, but your ECU will need to be removed and sent to ARP in Queensland as they are the only ones at the moment with the equipment to do the job.

My view is they may be waiting until the new platform is launched.

New platform will be completely different again right?

What benefit would they have in waiting for the CTHE?

Given the DSG/oil/other engine issues with the 6rGTI, i doubt many people are actively looking to pursue an upgrade path.
It is driven entirely by supply and demand and the Mk7 GTI and R is going to outstrip the 6r GTI on that easily.

Further, the Polo isn't available in the US which means it requires a lot more custom work to be done in Australia making it harder to recover the costs if you have such a small user base.

Interesting, I didn't realise the Polo wasn't available in the US!

You raise some very valid points.

God I hope not, the APR tune is the whole reason why I bought a Polo GTI and if they don't do it I will be devastated. The fact I got a 2013 model is because I was told the Oil problems had been rectified (not really) and that APR could tune it.

Hope it isn't lies because I am becoming very PISSED OFF.

What about a piggy back tuning box Steve, I know that their not as refined as a proper tune. I wonder if they would work with the CTH engine?

ABT Sportsline have a ECU upgrade available for CTHE with outputs similar to the APR CAVE upgrade.
The only thing stopping me getting one is the $1000+ premium over APR. It is a new ECU that takes over all functions rather than a tune of your existing ECU and ABT take over drivetrain warranty (don't know how that works!)
