Polo GTI 6C - Air Filter/OEM+ Tune Planning

    Hi guys,

I was looking into doing a few small changes to my 6C Polo GTI. First up was the air filter. Is $179.00 worth the it for getting this Racingline panel air filter? Anyone have it and could give me their feedback? Or would waiting for a CAI to be released and mature more for this model be worth the wait?

I would like to get a OEM+ tune eventually when it releases by Racingline depending on the feedback and increases (also price).

Also can anyone link me to some springs for the 6C? I want it lowered a little. Just dont know which ones will be compatible.

    Regards,
    bodyboarder03

I have a pipercross panel filter in mine, it literally made zero difference to the performance and sound. I got it for a little extra intake sound, but it's no different. I'd be expecting the same from the Racingline filter. Save your money for an aftermarket intake. The HFI carbon intake is nice but it's eye waterngly expensive.

I'm also interested in the OEM+ tunes, but there's just not enough transparency there. No prices listed anywhere or dyno graphs on their website, just a bunch of "trust us, it's great" talk. Going to need more than that to convince me to spend $1500+ on a flash tune. It's a new product though, so hopefully in time there will be more info available.

As for springs VW Racing sport springs, H&R 25/40 and Eibach Pro Kit 1 are popular choices.

The HF intake is very expensive but definitely increased throttle response on top of my APR tune and makes some nice subtle noises coming off the pedal.
With word on the street some people are getting the APR tune for under $1200 I would jump on that. I spoke to Harding about OEM+ and they said they are hoping for similar power figure to APR but intend to push the torque band higher in the rev range. Which TBH will prob be better as I struggle to get the power down in second at low revs. And with traction control on you can't access much of the power as the ESP system gets overloaded the second you bury the foot and it cuts power. So off it goes as does some extra rubber

I'm running the H&R 25/40 and found it lowered it just the right amount without completely ruining the ride. It's stiff, but manageable. KW Street comfort coil overs are the best option if money is not an issue. Eibach and VWR are only getting it around 15mm lower so won't fix the high back end. Just look for ones for the 6R GTI, >930kg.

Ok, well sounds like I will save up for a CAI, maybe the HF intake will come down in price or something else will pop up.

I am considering the APR tune just thought maybe the OEM+ might be better.

In terms of the springs, how much should I expect for install? I can source the springs myself.

I paid a bit over $400, including wheel alignment for install. The springs I got off eBay around $250 delivered (from Germany) when the exchange rate was good.
