Very unlikely, but if the price + full leather interior (definately this one) + GTI front lower grille with foglights, comes out lower than a GTI I would concider buying it..     I don't think the interior shown has anymore real leather in it than the alcantara/letherette option available in the GTI.

    Chrysler has cylinder deactivation on its v8s, has for 5+yrs. Not heard much negative press about it. It's been tried out in on Audi, Bentley etc v8s. Should be ok on a 1.4L engine. The tech is fairly well developed by now.
    Mercedes Benz, GM and Honda all have systems available.

    Maybe you are right, but if it worked so well, why didn't Audi etc. keep the system?
    Turbo engines have also been around for decades, and look how the TSI's turned out

    As for the interior: I have a thing against colours anything but black as fas as the seats go (don't know why).. So I hope VW will make this available in some was, without spending another €1300+ on redoing the seats on a brand new car

    They still have it in the current A1 and the new A3 1.4 and found this reference for the new Audi S6

    The Audi S6 and S7 are powered by a 4.0L DOHC twin-turbo V8 engine mated to a 7-speed S-tronic Double Clutch Gearbox. This engine makes 420 hp and 405 lb-ft of torque, plus there is a cylinder-deactivation system and a stop-start system for improved fuel economy.
