Thanks everyone.
So the answer to my original question is:
No, the TSI Polo does NOT have daytime running lights!
Bugger.
Golf VI GTI MY13 Candy white/ DSG/ Detroits/ tint/ reverse camera/ parking sensors
2016 Skoda Octavia 162TSI RS Wagon (Silver/DSG/Tech pack/ Black pack)
Well im going to add my own 2 cents..
Polo with sports pack doesn't have daytime driving lights no but it does have driving lights. For me they are only active when the headlights are on, when I turn the wheel left or right the corresponding Fog light switches on and is aimed slightly more at an angle than my headlight itself.
I get pulled over by Police when turning corners all the time because they think i have a single foglight on which is illegal in QLD unless driving conditions require them... bah

Those still aren't driving lights (as pologti18t says and the link explains, fogs are not driving lights).
What you have is a Comfortline with Sports Pack which uses the fogs as static cornering lights.
To the OP. What is wrong with running with low beam on?
Even though my GTI has DRL's aesthetically I prefer the low beam. I just leave low turned on and lights come on and off automatically with the ignition. May be the same in polo but haven't tested.
currrently... MY10 GTI | DSG | Candy White | Sunroof | 18's | BT | MDI
previously... MY08 GT TDI | DSG | Reflex Silver | Sunroof
Polo without comfort pack does not have the GTI auto off lights. Turn the ignition off with lights on and it beeps at you reminding you to turn your lights off.

As far as I'm aware, all new Polos have daytime running lights in the headlights (with the exception of the BlueMotion which has them in the bumper where the fogs are) in the UK at least. new laws coming in 2012 which make them mandatory.
