Polo - display a door open warning?

We are considering buying a Polo 77TSI or a Fabia Wagon with the same engine. (Manual trans.)

I have noticed that with a door open, the trip computer display on the Fabia shows a diagram of which door is open.

On the Polo I looked at today it just showed the usual trip computer display with odometer and time.

Does the Polo warn you in any way that a door is open - display, or a warning chime?

Does the Polo automatically lock all the doors when you take off, or can it be programmed to? (Fabia locks all doors when it reaches about 15 km/h.)

    Thanks

Polo - display a door open warning?

Hey Pugdriver, the Polo comes with two separate warning lights on the instrument cluster to do with the doors, one to show that a door is open and another to show that the boot is open. The former will simply light up if any door is open, and so does not show which specific door is open and the latter is fairly self explanatory. If any door is open (including the boot) and the car is travelling over ~15 km/h, the car does have a warning chime to let you know.

The car can be programmed (for free, by a VW dealership) to lock the doors over a certain speed, but will come from the factory without that feature enabled by default.

    Alex.

Polo - display a door open warning?

Sorry, just looked at my Polo. Everything I said above is correct, however there is not a separate warning light for the boot (I swear there was).

Sounds like the skodas MDF is more like the polo gti which shows a little picture of the car and what door opens. My guess is they have the better instrument cluster with full screen unlike the half creen in non-gti polos.

I think the 'half screen' MFD's are only found in the Trendline Polo. The Comfortline has a full screen MFD, but the way it shows its information is different to a GTI's.

Edit: the MFD on the GTI (bloody acronyms) is called the 'Highline MFD' which can show much more information such as GPS directions and the such.

I swear it has a seperate warning lamp for boot open. It's just another backlit icon showing a little polo with the boot open. At least that's what I remember seeing from driving yesterday lol....I'll check later today and see....and let you know! I hate when that happens, you remember something is there then when you go and look its not there :-P

Actually thinking about it now, it's very possible there is one but it's not working on my sister's car now.
I'd assume that the warning light for the boot being open is connected to the actual light in the boot, yes? I've noticed recently that the light in the boot takes anywhere from 0-4 minutes to start working once you open the boot.
And the way the boot handle sounds has changed, like normally you press in the badge and you can hear it go 'bump' and then as soon as the boot is slightly open it goes 'bump' again (around 0.5 sec), but a couple of months ago this changed and now it takes about 3 seconds between 'bumps'

So I'm thinking maybe the thing that lets the car know when the boot is open has broken a bit.

That's how it should be, same on ours, shows the icon with the little boot open, and a different one with the door open. So it's working as designed!
