Polo 77tsi Rattle - Fuel lines?

Hey guys just a quick one, first off my apologies if this has been answered in any other threads but I couldn't find the answer I was lookin for.

Anyway since winter finished here in Melbourne and it has been getting warmer I have been getting a rattle behind the drivers side steering wheel in the mornings. Now usually I don't care I turn up the radio and by the time I get out of the driveway it has stopped (somtimes lasting 5 mins down the road) but today I had the rattle last the entire trip to work (which was an painfully long 1 hour trip) and thought its time to look at it as it is clearly getting worse. My first guess is the fuel lines rattling in the channel (as it seems to be quite common) and if you have RPM's above idle the rattle is gone (...or could just be a coincidence or it has to do with the fuel pump tensioning the pipe when fuel is required...)

What I'm really asking is anyone who has had this problem and got is fixed do they have a campaign number or part number so I can get it fixed. Every time I go to vw for a problem they go for a road test for a whole of 2 seconds and say nope can't hear anything an dismiss it (after I wasted a day booking my car in).

I have a MY11 77TSI so I don't know if the placement of these pipes has changed in later revisions so if you have any photos of new MY12/MY13 models or any photos of how it was fixed it would be appreciated,

I'm 90% sure it is the arconditioning lines. I had the same rattle and fixed it in 2 minutes.

In this link I described the solution on the dutch forum. Move the line from clamp A to B and it should be fixed. I never heard it again.

I have this same problem I tried to cable tie the two lines to stop them moving around but it only partially worked.

Relocating the lines looks like a much better option

Actually I just checked and my lines are already in the positions described in the fix except in my case the white/black lines are reversed.

Nomad in my case the rattling is generally only noticeable if I am stopped AND my foot is on the break and is definitely due to the lines mentioned by PoloDave. However, I think other people have had slightly different rattles relating to the fuel lines.

The wife's 77TSi Fabia Monte had the same problem. Took it in to VW and they fixed it straight away. They said there is a fix for this issue on Polo's and Fabia's so I would ask. Not sure if there was a campaign number for this though. Car has been perfect since. Oh and it was the fuel lines...

ive got the same thing, asked VW about it and they said it was the fuel lines ratting. the machanic moved it and said that they need to get some part from germany to permanantly fix it. which i though was just stupid. it was fixed for a while but its back now. i dont mind though now that i know its nothing major

Hey guys thanks for your prompt answers. Yeah the fix described in the link won't work for me as they are allready like that (except the black and white pipes are swapped around).

Unfortunately this is somthing I can't just forget. It is so loud unless the radio is past deafening levels I can still hear it but I will try moving the pipes around and see what it does.

I'll go past vw on the way home but I'm sure they will give me the same bullcrap I usually get, if they can't hear it on the spot within the 2 seconds they give to demonstrate, they won't do anything...Because we customers just make up these bull**** problems just to waste their precious time...

I just swapped the black and white lines over anyway which due to the way they are routed has increased the tension on both lines. Not sure if it will make any difference...will let you know

Well went to the vw service department and as expected was given the good ol Australian vw service attitude. Apparently there is no fix at all for the polo...only for the golf and thus I would have to pay to get the parts fitted because it is not a official vw recall and I would have to book an appointment for them to check,if they don't hear it that do nothing...as expected. Soooo I went to the liberty of moving the pipes around myself and so far so good, until the morning anyway...
