Angry Polo 6R TSI - RCD510 Tweeter Distortion

    Hey all,

My Polo is around a week old now and I've just stated playing with music on the RCD510 and to my dismay, both the tweeters in the front pillars distort when playing MDI at default EQ settings under low volume. There is a pronounced distortion in the upper frequency range that sounds like the cones/coils are warped/damaged. The front door speakers seem fine as are the rear doors.

HELP! I'll chat to the dealer on Monday about this. This will be a true test of the dealer.

Same happened to me mate, they should and will fix it ASAP and send it in for defective testing it will take them max 30 mins to an hour to replace the pillar and tweaterr (its the entire pillar that needs to replace with the tweater).

Don't stress mate they will look after you

How did you explain the fault to them?

Crackling in left tweeter, played the song(s) that showed the fault in the speaker to which they took upon themselves to take my word for it.

They oredered the part from Germany which roughly takes around 3-4 weeks to arrive.

I think I'm facing a challenge as the distortion is in both front tweeters. I can play a variety of vocal songs from say chillout sessions which will audibly demonstrate the distortion but if the person listening is an audio/deaf moron they may not even notice.

I sincerely hope they fix this as it is extremely annoying. Audio is an important part of life to me (Hence I own Dynaudio C2 speakers). More annoyingly, others with Polo 6R vehicles have faultless speakers which I have tested extensively.

If your car is only a week old they will more than likely fix the issue as it wouldn't be seen as "professional" to sell you a car and one week later both tweaters are plagued with a fault, they will more than likely test it, confirm the problem and have to get the parts ordered best thing to do is go in with a positive mind set and set out a list of songs which will be easy for even the most daft listeners to pick out the cracking/distortion.

Mine was 7 months old and CCC were very good and had no excuse what so ever, its all a matter of your attitude and how you talk to them.

    Goodluck!
