My 77 tsi is in for a service today, and i have been advised that the break pads are running low and will need to be replaced.
I was just curious what the best after-market break pads are that are low dust, with better or equal abilities of the OEM pads.

I know its off topic but I am just wondering - how many KM do you have on your Polo? The brakes on most VW's are designed so that when the brake pads are finished so are the brake discs so they are replaced together and the new ones beded in together.
I have done 45,000km and I am a hard braker and have only used just shy of half way on both front and backs. You should get at least 60,000+ out of them.
To me it just sounds like the stealership trying to screw you!

Stealership permanently trying to screw me and everyone else, I've done 61,000kmss almost i drive a fair bit and break pretty heavily

Those pads are well within budget, when I was told on the phone he said $200+ to replace and install front and i cut him off there and said not to worry

Happy to spend around $200 mark on front and rear pads, how much will a new set up completely set me back and what kind of difference is there going to be?

Front brakes (discs and pads) on mine were replaced at 30,000 km due to shuddering under braking.
Rear brakes are still the same ones that were fitted at the factory and they're only about 3/4 worn after 65,000 kms.

on the topic of Carbon brake pads.. after spending what felt like an eternity cleaning my GTI's rims on Saturday can anyone reccomend pads for the GTI?

They're pretty good for that price and free brake fluid! and OMP is in my opinion a great brand...remember a lot of things in Europe are around 1/3 to two thirds cheaper than things bought in Australia...our country is nothing short of over inflated in terms of pricing, housing etc.

I think thats actually my bad. I assume two pads are required for each wheel ? In that case the front & rears come to about $250 for all four wheels + P&H.

Do upgraded pads stop squeaking? because currently every time i leave my car for more than 12 hours the brakes sqaurk like crazy!
ive tried cleaning and removing all brake dust but still no joy
