Personally I actually don't mind the S001's. It's been a while since I looked but are there Michelins available in our size?
Cheers

Hi all. APR Stage 1 Polo GTI 6C and after new shoes.
Running stock Potenza S001 which I do not rate (need replacing anyway)
Any reports on Michelin Pilot Sport 4?
I can get them for a fair price and thought running at around 28PSI front may help with the ridiculous wheelspin.
I may look at fitting the HP Dogbone mount too as it made a big differnce in my old chipped MK4.
Appreciate any thoughts or experience.
Cheers

Have a look here, but to summarise - the best ultra high performance street tyres are:
- Michelin Pilot Sport 4 S
- Continental Premium Contact 6
- Goodyear Eagle F1 SuperSport

Otherwise, you may want to consider moving up to a semi slick, but note they will not grip at all in the wet and they are quite noisy - so they definitely have some cons. Also they are very soft rubber, so they will be lucky to last 10-12,000km.
Your car should come from factory with a 215/40/17 tyre. This is actually not a common size, so there are not many options for tyres in this size and they are expensive. You could consider moving to a 225/45/17 which is a much more common tyre size, and there are heaps of options in this size and they are about $80 cheaper per tyre. This will give you an extra 2cm of rubber on the road but note this size tyre will give you about a 1.5cm increase in sidewall depth and a slightly larger (5%) overall rolling diameter.

You’ve got to be very careful with increasing the tyre size on a polo gti - there is very little clearance and they are prone to rubbing.

Looks like Pilot Sport 4. The 4S doesn,t come in my size.
Anyone had luck lowering fromt pressures to reduce wheelspin?
I am really struggling to get off the mark in this car compared to my old heavier MK4.

Yes, we run 2.4 front, 2.1 rear in my sons car. Works well.
