It all sounds promising, however, it is specifically made for rallying/racing purposes. It's like saying that the WRC cars in the current world championship are the same as the road cars. The Citroen DS3 WRC and the Ford Fiesta RS WRC are very different creatures to their road siblings

The engine from my understanding of future FIA regs will be the same the cars will differ of course.

WRC engines could produce anywhere from 300-500 bhp. I doubt if you will see that sort of power in a road car

Will that include making the car AWD as well? I was talking about the current WRC cars, nothing like their road brothers. Unaware of new regs, when do they come in?

This is a very exciting development! If the Polo entered WRC service it would be sweet for us (soon to be) GTI owners. Especially if the racing Polos were to be successful.

Yes, they'll never be close to the road version, but just think of the reputation our cars will earn. Remember the heyday of the WRX & EVO's in the late 90's? They were nothing like the WRC cars, but it didn't stop the road versions from becoming instant modern classics.

Increased public perception of the Polo as a sweet rally car means better quality, affordability and increased range of performance modifications for our road cars. I'm all for that!

I am assuming this would be the Polo R engine, as the Audi S1/RS1 is rumoured to use a 1.6T. Here it is!
