Performance tyres on polo 6c gti?

Any recommendations on tyres for quite hard driving? No track work but a lot of windy roads
Ad08 seem to be recommended a lot but worried about wet weather.

dunlop sport maxx rt won that test, PSS came 3rd off the top of my head....plus depending on your wheel size, I believe the PSS doesn't come in 17" sizing. I have the PSS on my Supercharhed Magna, unreal tyre that's for sure! quite expensive though...but according to motor tyre test, maybe check out the dunlops...

I had bridgestone re003 on my polo before I sold it. Very good tyre. Lot less noise then the dunlops and so sticky just as much in the wet as they where in the dry. Put 15000km on them and still looked brand new.

What rims are you running? That dictates your choices a little.

I don't believe there's a Dunlop Sport Maxx fitment for the cars, but +1 for Michelin PSS.

I'm running 245/35R18 Pilot Super Sports on my Audi A1. It's about the biggest tyre you can physically and legally get in under those arches. I should mention I've gone from the factory 18x7.5 rims to 18x8's. 245 width tyres could be a bit much on 7.5" rims... might be a bit more sidewall squirm than you'd want.

Is that the same max size for the Polo or are the chassis's slightly different?

You've got the physical limitations and the ADRs / legal modification considerations.

What was supplied on your car - or the largest dealer available option? My A1 came with 225/35R18's on 18x7.5 rims.
I changed the rims basically right after delivery to 18x8's but just transferred the original ContiSportContact 3's over.

When they wore out I went looking... the smallest PSS I could find was my 245's. They are just legal (1mm less than the max diameter).


Turns out you can actually get the PSS in a 225/35R18 - the only place I can find these is Tempe Tyres in Sydney.
Michelin don't officially sell this fitment in Aus, they're grey imports, so you won't find them at the big guys like Bob Jane etc, but Tempe have a good reputation nonetheless.

So, hindsight? I'd have stuck with standard sizing and upgraded to the PSS. This would give my coilovers a little more breathing room and maybe even let me wind them down a few more threads all around.
