'--> P/N' Message

Hi guys

I have a My12.5 Polo TSI, and I have noticed over the last few weeks, every now and then when I start the car the message '--> P/N' appears as the starter motor turns over. The message disappears as soon as the engine starts, and it doesn't appear every time. There are no other warning lights that come on (other than the standard when turning the ignition on).

I was just wondering if anybody knew what it meant?

Is it an auto? Might just be saying you have to be in park/neutral before starting. Same as the manual says depress clutch. I could be completely wrong tho.

Yeah just tried it in my polo 1.2tsi with DSG. If you are in anything other than P or N and try to start the car it will display -->P/N and locks the ignition so you cannot attempt to turn it again. It does this until you put it in P or N.
