    Over Stocked

Was told today that Audi is overstocked on the A1 and the new Skoda will be the same........how is this so???

Come on VW Australia whats happening. Pushing brand loyalty to the extreme.

The Audi A1 caters to a fairly niche demographic: women drivers who want to purchase an small luxury car. It's far to... dare I say it, feminine to be driven credibly by a male.

The Skoda caters to who the heck knows. I never see any around.

Has the Fabia (I assume that's what you mean by "The Skoda") even hit the showrooms yet?

It's normal Skoda business practice to send out "too much" stock when a new model is introduced. After that, they go back to their normal business model of 60-80% customer order only.

Mythick: You see them, you just don't recognise them. Very "under the radar".

Hmmm....I just don't like the look of the A1. It's not that I think it's girly or too feminine looking, I really hate that big black thingo (I'm a chick, I have no idea what it's called) on the front of the car.

People are still scared of SKODA being a "Eastern-Block" car and don't realize these are really good value for money in terms of quality & how they are packaged. It's only really the re-sale value at the moment which lets them down as the brand will take time to develop in Australia. Most people who purchase the SKODAs are of European or South African back ground and are more aware of its quality/value.
Audi competes with their entry level models in a hard fought segment and there is probably too much choice there.

Both Golf & Polo won plenty of awards world-wide and demand as such is outstripping supply. In Germany they are on spot 1 & 2 in terms of sales volume.

The guys on the forum here that have sold Skodas have done really well with retained value - slightly better than the equivalent VW.

The brand is now 3 years old in AUS - surely there's some decent 2nd hand data starting to come through? Or are all the owners so happy they are hanging on to them?

European & Sth Efrikan? That's almost as funny as the salesperson that told me "All the Skoda lookers have been men. Most of them wearing socks & sandals." (it was probably true but funny none-the-less).

How true! There is only one Skoda driver at my work, and he is definitely the socks and sandals type! (Not European or Sth Efrican, though...)

Perth only recently has extended to two SKODA dealerships, so obviously people have faith in the product. SKODAs resale value is improving - deservedly so - and over time it should be certainly at least on par with VWs.
