Gotta love the Novated lease, fully managed purchase from start through finish!
We got our GTI through Inside Edge novated leasing.
Hey guys.
So today I picked up our very first new car! Was a bit of a surreal experience as it was purchased through a novated lease so every step of the way was by phone and email with the exception of a test drive.
The Polo will be a gift for the missus (she still doesn't know; will surprise her for Valentines') as she'll be getting her P plates soon and she'll be needing a car to drive to and from work, but with my track record of modifying cars, I'll eventually have my way with it (with her input and approval of course). Starting off pretty tame; currently have a parcel shelf organiser and a clean set of BBS RXII coming in from Japan, but would eventually want to change the steering wheel (feels slippery and unengaging) to a leather one. That's my only gripe with it for the moment, otherwise it's such a nice, simple car.

Particular good that part of the payment is paid through before tax.
So the missus got the surprise yesterday and she couldn't be happier.
During the week the wheels arrived. In very decent nick, will just give it a colour change, polish the lips and maybe change out the bolts.
We've been driving the car around quite a bit, and we both agree that we love the car except for the steering wheel. On closer inspection, it seems to be made of the same material as the dash; definitely not a nice feeling texture for a steering wheel. I ended up winning the auction for a leather steering wheel; ad said it was off a new 6R that had done 220km, so virtually no scratches/wear. Will be about $200 landed from Japan, not too bad.
Parcel tray organiser and floor mats from the car that I got the steering wheel from are also on the way.
We're getting used to the stop-start function but on hot days like this weekend where the A/C switches off, it's not ideal. I don't think it's great for the starter either. Might look into switching it off on engine start when my mate with a VAGCOM can check it out.
Just dont hold the brake down so hard and engine wont stop.

Good stuff Ray! I have had my GTI for 4 months now and love it.
In regards to the stop start, you can turn it off within the car, but it will reset everytime you turn the car off. If it is extremely hot your car won't turn off if you are in traffic, in highway k's it will only cause the car is cool enough for it.
I have tried also a couple of times with the foot brake to try and not turn the car off but it is actually speed related and then a timer unfortunately.
Good luck and welcome to the Polo club
I'm soo euro even my missus is shaved...
Had no idea you were back in VWs Steve! Planning on any mods?
I get the same experience as Hillbilly; when I brake to a stop, I always slightly release the pedal to come to a smooth stop, and this generally doesn't trigger the stop-start. That said, I usually hold the brake pedal harder once I've stopped anyway. I know it can be disabled on start by configuring it in VAGCOM so once I get my hands on one I'll most likely turn it off.
