    Oil smell in cabin *Fixed/Solved*

    Hi all,

In the last few weeks I have noticed a faint oil smell in the cabin when set for fresh air. It doesn't smell on recirculate.

I have the car on my hoist at the moment and I can't see anything leaking, it looks all pretty good. Nothing leaning on the exhaust for example.

Has anyone experienced similar with their 6R?

    TIA

If you're in need of any 6n1 parts, odds are that I am going to have them (dismantling 2 at the moment)

The diesels are notorious for smelling oily during DPF regenerations, but not sure what would cause a TSI to smell oily.

Okay.. had a good look and have found what the issue is and have patched it up while I wait for parts to come in from VW.

There is a small breather valve on the end of the 'Cylinder Head Cover' under the turbo air pipe that connects to the airbox, well it had broken off as its plastic and dealing with oil vapour i suspect my car (2010 w/95k) wont be the last to break it.

Details below of what it looks like, where it is and what the part number is hoping that it will help someone else out.

    The grommet

The offending valve that snapped off

ETKA diagram, part 21 is the actual valve and 24 is the grommet. Since I superglued it into the grommet to keep me going, ill get another grommet too.

    Parts numbers

Best picture I could find, the valve is under the intake charge hose and the hose you can see as indicated
