    ODB2 socket on Polo 6R?

We just got a new Polo 6R in the family (77TSI- my14 with comfort pack and rear sensors). I thought that I would have a look at the module controllers, using my trusty VCDS cable.

To my surprise, I found that the ODB2 socket is "upside-down". It means that when connected, I can't see the Orange/Green LED on the head of the VCDS cable (because it points downwards- towards the floor). My mk7 Golf has the socket the right-way-up, but the Polo is different.

Is this the same for other Polo's or is it just one of those querky unexplainable mysteries that happens in the Southern Hemisphere (like water going down a drain in the opposite direction)?

Umm going to say another fine example of South African quality control (or the lack of such).

My 2011 Polo 77tsi has the port up the right way (so I can see the led) and I guess this has been the same until 2013 models as I worked on a GTI which was positioned the same as mine.

Mine was upside down, not like you need the LED and it was annoying when fiddling with the car at night

2012 GTI, which are made in Spain so I doubt its a quality control thing

Considering the OBD port is something the average user will never see or use, VW probably just don't care which way it's installed.

Mine's upside down as well. My Wife's Mk6 GTI is right way up.

Yes, I agree that seeing the LED is not a big-thing, but I find a certain degree of comfort in the familiar process of the orange light comming-on, then it turning green! It kinda shows me that all-is-well with the cable and the connection before I hook-up the USB end to the laptop.
