Surprised no one has intel on this? No love for the next gen Polo Gti...
Does anyone have any info on the next Polo GTi? When it will be released and what the specs will be etc? I've heard it's going back to a 1.8L, more specifically, the EA888 1.8L from Audi?
And for that matter, more info about the Polo R? The S1 has been released as 170kW/370Nm, 6 speed manual only. Will it be much the same, or come optional with a DSG?
Interested to hear.
Cheers.

The face lifted Polo GTI isn't too far away, although I don't think it looks all that different to the current one. I did read that they would be adding a manual option however.
On the flipside while the S1 is manual only for now, Audi are not ruling out a DSG version.. or an even more powerful RS1 down the track.

Latest 'Wheels' magazine claims slight power increase (6kw?), ditching the supercharger, new 1.4lt. turbo, manual option for the first time and mechanical differential that's optional on the new golf Gti. I'm a bit dubious about those claims, I'd expect a non DOD variation of the 1.6lt in the Blue GT (we don't get here) to reach those type of power claims. On a side note there is an interesting comparison in the current Motor mag pitting the 6R Polo against the latest Clio RS and Fiesta ST, the old Polo holds its own still in most categories against it's newer rivals (still it's quicker to 100? wtf).
I've already spammed VWA saying I want a 3 door manual gti and they have to bring it. I checked out UK pricing and 3 doors are about 97% the cost of 4 doors minus another $2500 for deleting the DSG. Should come at a good price with the added bonus of reliability. Wont hold my breath but I'd appreciate the tartan interior being a no cost option so I can delete it too.
Reading articles and speaking to my local dealer, I've been told it is going to be the same twin charged engine which has been tweaked to 196bhp (not sure what this is in Kw) with the option of a manual or dsg!! I was also told it will have a similar if not the same diff as the golf.
The german site has pictures of 3 doors. Der Polo - Ausstattungsvarianten < Der neue Polo - der Kleinwagen von Volkswagen < Modelle
