Welcome. Un/fortunately you're likely to find an abundance on information about your problems in the 6R thread.
It seems they don't make em like they used to.
All the best.
G'day Fellow VW's,
I have purchased a VW Polo GTI in 2012 Oct. Since about 800 k's on the clock the problems started. I have an extremely loud rattle when going over any bumps and when changing gears in tiptronic (when oil is at operating temp >70deg).
So far I have had the clutches replaced, plenum chamber something or other, plus multipke other drop ins for oil top ups etc.
Can anyone help me, who may have an answer to this issue (I have it booked in for the 22/3/13 to get looked at). This is really embarrassing, as I said to the dealer I don't want to drive a brand new car that rattles.
This is really stressing me out, Please help!
Thanks,
Hayden

I can see your problem right away...you didn't but a vRS Fabia instead. Sorry - Now I just KNOW I am going to have problems with mine now.....
Sorry again, but as an aside, I bought my vRS in November '12 and it now has just short of 10K on the clock (6700km already on it when I got it ex demo) - not a squeak - oil use has been maybe 600ml? probably less. Just got the DSG updated after I did get a warning light, but 5 weeks passed between the warning light flashing once, and me doing anything about it.
There has been allegations the quality control at the factory line is the real problem IE: problems aren't being detected till the customer finds them.
Hope it works out - the Polo certainly looks like an awesome twin to the Fabia.

G'day Brash,
Yeah don't worry I considered they Fabia, but due to resale value and interior quality I chose the GTI (now annoyed at my choice, no apology necessary). I've been told to check out the 6R site, so will have a look there, seems like alot of the same. The oil issue aside the local dealer has told me just to bring it in when it is low and they will top it up (free of charge). I bought this car to get work done in it as I also have a 72 HQ project going as well.
Thanks for the help, glad I joined this site.
Fabia is also a platform generation behind the polo.
I you have a rattle going over bumps that is also present when the dsg changes gears, take note of which gear you are in. You will more than likely find that the rattle you are talking about is the standard DQ200 3rd gear selector rattle. Perfectly normal to occur (when in D) in 2nd and 4th gear and when in M it will occur in 2nd, 4th or any other gear that the dsg deems to be too tall and will pre-select 3rd gear.

Thanks for that, It doesn't seem to be related just to one thing. I had the boys at Gosford VW have a look and yet again apparently something else was fixed. Now after another 200 or so k's the rattle is back again. I am really getting over it, shuddering in first again and sounding like gearbox wants to fall out over every bump.
Not sure exactly where to go from here.
Try and drive another 7 speed DSG , polo if possible.... To a certain extent its classed as "normal operation" but hard without hearing it. Hopefully the boys at the garage are not looking into something that VW consider "normal" as they will never fix it. It makes quite a harsh clatter when using the paddle shift under a decent amount of throttle due the quick change, I've looked into this and they are all the same. Also the clatter from the box over speed bumps depending on what the box is doing at the time is also normal. Ive driven many and know why you are frustrated but really you need to drive a like for like and you might find it the same... Should not judder in first tho, clutch packs should have fixed that issue...
