So I was one of the ones that bought the MY15, love the car but as of late the firm suspension has been driving me nuts. Driving on Sydney roads can sometimes be a really unpleasant experience.
I've been thinking lately of maybe getting new suspension installed. I'm wondering if anyone could give me any advice on how much it would cost me roughly to install some softer suspension and where would be a good place (I'm in Sydney) to get some quotes? Also, would doing this void my 3 year warranty?
thanks for any advice
Shock absorbers are a service item, like brake pads, lubricants, windscreen wipers etc, so there should be no warranty issues with replacing them. Springs not so much, a hardnosed dealer could well give you some grief over a spring change, especially to a performance, height adjustable coil over kit. You could try a set of OE Polo TSi springs, I doubt even the hardest dealer could justify having an issue with that swap. A cheap test, a couple of guys on here have swapped out the springs on the their TSi's, maybe try and grab their's. Shock absorber wise I'd suggest something with sophisticated valving whilst staying away from anything designated "sport" or "heavy duty", Bilsteins or Konis would be top of my list and maybe have a look at Boge as well. For Bilsteins have a talk to Heasmans, not cheap but you get what you pay for.
Have you tried lowering the tyre pressures? My wife's Golfs have been very sensitive to tyre pressures, a couple of pounds lower and the ride improves a lot and doesn't seem to affect the wear (current tyres 60,000 k's). I have also found Michelin's to ride and handle better than the OE Continentals and Hankooks.
