Hopefully your dealership does something to fix it. Has it occurred more than once?
Yes, I've noticed it a few times.
The sensation is like there are Maccas trays under both front wheels and the rear wheels are pushing the car forward(yes I know its front wheel drive).

We'll see how we go tomorrow at the dealer.

Yeah I know the feeling you mean. Hopefully it's something simple, but who knows.

Umm your not using your hand brake by any chance are you. It is 100% hard wired into the car that when the brake system has any pressure inside it (by foot pedal or ABS pump) the DSG clutches are disengaged and drive is stopped. Any fault in the brake system (brake / pressure switch, ABS control pump) will illuminate the yellow warning symbols on te dash.

Now yes there are times that the DSG is slow to disengage and it does pull for a sec but the worst I have ever noticed was about 1-2 seconds. It usually happened when your in bumper to bumper traffic - you take off 1st to 2nd and then you hit the brakes and keeps pulling. but it doesn't do it continuously unless you were using the hand brake. Also cars brakeing systems far exceed power output so breaking hard enough should have pulled it up in time.

    No handbrake.
1-2 seconds is plenty of time to push the car in front at the lights.
The ABS is actually working against the brakes causing them to stutter. It's like it thinks the car is moving and the wheels shouldn't be locked/stationary so the ABS pump kicks in.
Ever used ABS on loose gravel? It's not great.

If you don't leave a big enough gap yeah 1 second is a lot of time.

To be honest just sounds all weird. At speeds under 20km the ABS normally wouldn't kick in and really if all the wheels are skidding at 20km/h I think its time for some new tyres. As I said the breaking capacity far exceeds power output and weight in the event the electronic assists (ABS pump and booster) fail.

Don't think in having a stab at you - when it comes it electronics I doubt nothing but In less I saw it in action I wouldn't even know what to look at. Sounds more brake related than gearbox.

The car is 2 months old. Considering they'll do 0-100 in 7 seconds 1-2 seconds will get you a fair way.
With the ABS kicking in(releasing/pulsing the brakes as it's designed to do) and the engine idle speed sensor applying more power to keep idle speed it's not a nice feeling.

I've had it lose all power a few times and the brakes fail/stutter too.
Today while at the traffic light I took my foot off the brake to move forward a few feet and the car wouldn't stop and drove straight under a tray ute. It just stutters and keeps going. Is this a common problem?
I would be making the insurance company have the vehicle replaced by a Volkswagen dealership however, this flies in the face of everything VGA's media team have been reporting saying that post 2011 vehicle don't have the same mechatronics issues... For a car to drive itself with the brakes fully applied which should be disengaging the clutches in the gearbox, that is a massive safety issue. Don't accept a repaired vehicle, I'd personally be getting a refund and buying something else or if you don't want to do that, I'd be demanding a replacement vehicle.

Which foot did you have on the brake pedal and which foot did you have on the throttle?

Shouldn't matter as if the brake pedal is depressed its cuts the throttle.

Right foot on the brake and accelerator. One at a time.
