watching megafactory. Veyron at wide open throttle = 3mpg. Range = 12 minutes. Staggering. What I dont understand is how Volkswagen can build a DSG gearbox that can reliably handle 1000hp but they cant build one that can reliably handle 100hp.

The clutch pack is a riveted assembly containing the drive plate and both clutches. The kit also contains new actuators and a selection of shims to get the right gap conditions for the clutches. This is what the kit looks like:

Well, the wife says she can still get the shuddering on a certain corner nearby.
What she failed to notice was the fact the steering wheel isn't pointing straight up when driving along a straight piece of road. Back to the dealers next Friday for the 5th time. My attempts to replicate the shuddering have come up with nothing.
Another day, another break down..... Up to break down number 4 now, same issue, engine light and EPC light... I assume it is cylinder 4 again. Will be getting VW assist to tow it to VW in Monday....
I have a feeling I have the same problem. After the DSG update, the computer seems obsessed with second gear; drive into an intersection, esp. with a roundabout, coasting up to it to check for oncoming traffic. Attempts to accelerate through the intersection will result in it forgetting 1st exists and rpm drops, leading to the shuddering. Same as if you attempted to drive a manual in too low a gear.
They won't ever fix this problem mate. The problem they have is that TVS engineering who have written dsg tunes in the Netherlands (who also provide tech support to VW in the Netherlands) have solved this issue and for VW to have Borg Warner RE-write the code to the same specs as TVS then they won't achieve the same (bulltish) fuel consumption figures, they will be admitting they got it wrong and will also potentially be in breach of IP laws. Unfortunately, to get this solved you have 2 solutions. 1) drive in M all the time but this doesn't overcome clamp-force problems or 2) pay for a dsg tune which alters the shift points in D and S and provides better clamp force through the early stages o the rev range to stop clutch slip, hence prolonging clutch life
