Well, took the Polo GTI to the dealer on Friday. Left it there for the day, but they couldn't simulate the issue. So when I arrived back, they asked me to take it for a quick drive to make it happen. Lucky for me, it did. (You've got to drive it like a girl)

So now, it's going back this Friday again to have it monitored by a computer to work out which clutch packs to replace. Or rather, whether it's within tolerance or not. (Even though they acknowledge that this shuddering isn't normal)

At least there's progress, and the problem is now starting to happen more often now.

    G'day,

Same issues my friend, they replaced clutches, but I have a really loud rattle also and am getting quite sick and embarrassed. Any tips?

    Cheers

Since having the new DSG installed I now notice the 'clunk' (I guess it's the clutch engaging) when going from Neutral to Drive.....very noticeable

How is the new DSG going? Is it bucking anymore?

Mine is in today getting its 3rd Mechatronics unit, highly doubt it will fix it though...

I couldn't really care about noise so long as it works! I have a Golf as a loaner with a 6pd wet clutch and its quite loud when changing gear (the sliding sleeves inside the box) but its not a rattle like the 7sp. It's a thunk and that's it (much like the sound of a traditional manual but about 3 times louder), sounds pretty good acually...and smoothness...ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh so nice...one can dream the 7sp will be anything like this one

Car is going in Monday...had enough of the oil pressure death alert shouting at me every 50 odd kms.

I've got no oil consumption issues whatsoever but I'm informed it may be linked to a dodgy oil filter being installed. Oh...and yes...I got some attitude from mr telephone man.

So they said in the end there was three places that it was rattling from

Have driven for nearly two hours and no rattle now though!
Awesome, I will be taking mine in on Friday (22/3) and will be telling them this. I hope that this will be the fifth time lucky, It's seriously embarrassing as I love this car and plan to show it, definitely not with the rattle though.

Thanks, will let you know about the outcome.

7 speed DSG gearbox'd cars recalled in China...kaboom!!!!

I wonder when the ACCC will punish VWAG and make them recall all our cars to "double check" and independently inspect/fix problems with the DSG7

    Volkswagen recalls almost 400,000 cars

Is that the link that gavs has in his sig? He has had that a while now. But good for more people to bring it up.

No this is a new thing. Gavs was about VW China extending the factory warrantee becuase of faults in the 7sp DSG.

This is different, VW have now publicly announced a recall (not a service campaign) which is mandatory and quite serious!

It is almost certain that VWAG have to follow the Chinese standard to do a complete recall on the DSG7...otherwise the ACCC will be pressured to push them to do so (400,000 cars is not something to shrug off and should be a global recall).
