I think it is feasible for a car to have no wind noise, my Toyota Landcruiser has none, neither does my girlfriends Mitsubishi. I don't think its too much to ask for piece and quiet while driving a new car. But it may be a better tactic to investigate myself before crying like a spoilt child to the dealerships.
I guess it depends on the type of noise you're talking about. If it's the very dull roar of wind passing over and around the mirrors (usually the main culprit) then that's just life and soon you won't even hear it as your brain registers it as 'normal'. If it's a whistling sound caused by air going in/out of a gap or over a sharp edge that's something different and you may be able to do something about.

Honestly, I have four Thule bike racks on the roof of our Subie and they whistle like crazy at freeway speeds but I never even notice it until someone says "wow, that whistling sound is annoying", making me aware of it again at which point I almost go insane from it!!

Oh, and I LOL'd the first time I read your initial post so I'm pretty sure the dealer would too unless you are very specific in describing what could only be considered an abnormal noise.

Lastly, it could be the rumble/drone of the sound actuator you are hearing which means it's not wind noise at all! Just a thought..

I think it might be related to the shocks because it happens over bumps (obviously). The noise I get is a very quiet, but very annoying, 'tick'. It's certainly not related to the rear seat itself because it's still there with the seat folded down.

I'll see what the dealer can do when we get rear the door seal replaced (it was cracked since delivery).
    Alex.
Thats it guys, it sounded like it was coming from the rear seat belt/s around the tensioner. doesn't matter if the seats were up or down, it may even sound louder with the seats down. It sounds like a ticking, like an old western telegram machine, but soft. Still anoying as hell, but luckily now gone from my car.

The guys at Norris VW at Kedron fixed this for me so thumbs up to them for locating and resolving.

Mine has had a ticking in L/R since new Sounds like the little tongue on a zip or similar clicking as it swings with motion.

However one day I had about 60kg in the boot and it was noticeably worse so I booked it in thinking it was a shockie mount or similar.

They took it out and said nothing wrong and would cost $146 an hour to look further.

On Thursday I had to do an emergency stop when an idiot drove across the Bribie road right in front of me.

I just managed to miss him but now the noise has increased markedly.

So I am assuming it is either something behind the trim or something in the suspension got upset when I was trying to tear the wheels off it.

Suggestions as to where to start and what type of grease did they use on the mounts etc as I may pull wheel off and have a look.

A really good place to check for the rattle is the latches that hold the rear seats in. I had the rattle and then put cloth tape around the latches and the problem was gone and haven't had a problem since.

Thanks for that. Sounds exactly like my situation. I had tried taping the rear seat latches but it was still there.
This sounds like it might actually solve the problem

Sorry I can't help with that technical stuff, maybe try ringing Norris VW and see what they can do, mine was all under warranty.

Yeah those Bribie drivers, shouldn't be allowed off the island

Well I pulled the thing apart today and it seems to be in the Shockie or the top mount.

After stripping the interior of the boot I could here it tapping away at the top of the spring tower.

Took the shockie out and NO MORE NOISE.

Put everything back and went for drive NO NOISE

Put shockie back in and ITS BACK

    Off to Dealer on Wednesday

In fairness I think it was a mainland driver who had been at the Fruitbarn as he took off towards Caboolture

Just thought I would post a comment in regards to another post in another thread by a user with a "spongey" brake pedal.

One thing to also have the VW techies to look at is the settings for Brake assist and hill start assist. I have found from time to time they tend to "play up" and make the brake pedal go to the floor. I'm to assume its because it lockes the brake pressure higher than what you would be pushing it at, giving the feeling of there been a leak. After I take off again and the system is reset/turned off/ suspended/what ever you like to call it, the problem is gone.

    Just a thought...

I've noticed that if you push the brake very slowly that its very easy to push it almost to the floor (at least in my Polo), but the faster you push it the further up it stops and it can not be pushed any further.
