Well you all seem to be explaining very similar situations as to what I suffer... Now what the problem is?!

I've had this - usually half way into or on a bend and no throttle response. 3-4 fearful seconds, and then too much boost. Not a nice feeling powerless trying to merge into traffic

not sure the likelehood of this happening on brand new unmodified cars, but a boost leak could be another issue, but from what you guys are describing, you get no power at all

even with heat soak/boost leak, the car will move, it will just be very slow

would you describe it as a hesitation ? if so, then i would say gearbox. gearbox for sure.

the supra did it once, scared the **** out of me, as i was trying to quickly pull out of a side street as there was traffic coming. normally this would have not been an issue, but for some reason the gearbox hesitated, like it didnt know which gear to go in, so it just sat there for about a whole second, which doesnt sound like much, but when you have a large 4wd coming at you at 70kph...

it could also be your traction control system, sensing some slip and cutting a lot of power

just throwing some idea's from personal experience

I've had a lot of conversations about this, with other polo owners and people in general car service (not VW as yet though if it happens again I likely will)
With regards to hesitation, for me, I've always been in first. I've had some initial movement, so the car must have been in a gear (not roll - I assure you). The car stays in D1 or S1 and doesn't look like anything described around false neutrals. Despite my recollections to people on the Sydney trip the other day, I don't notice a thud or anything of the gear coming into place as has been described in some DSG hesitation complaints.

As for traction control, this was the first thing suggested to me, and I've had a wide variety of descriptions on how this should work.
Typically when I dump the accelerator too hard at lights, or on a rough surface I notice two things. 1 - wheels stopping and starting to find traction. 2. the traction control light flash.
In all but one of the times I've had this happen, it's been a well tarred road with good grip and the acceleration hasn't been massive. In the most recent time, there was some loose stones (oval car park) but I wasn't accelerating hard at all.
Short of disabling traction control every time I get in the car, I'd like to think it's not the traction control.

Always rolling. Usually 1st or 2nd gear. Always immediately after a power off (no acceleration). Throttle pressed 1-2cm ... No revs, no increased momentum. Engine rpm stays below 1k rpm, and car coasts.

Definitely not traction control. Don't know if its the dsg as the engine itself just seems disconnected from lite throttle inputs. Then whoomf your off in an un dignified manner as the engine comes back from the dead.

Yeah, had this a few time too. It's like the supercharger has forgotten to engage and then it does and it's like you've floored it - but you haven't!

Hmmm good point it could be a supercharger issue. Is the problem only happening in low revs?

Don't think it's the super charger because I get it and I have a 77TSI (turbo only)

Can't say it's "only in low revs" as theres no revs.
It's essentially idling in gear - and then when you go to take off, you get nothing.
I've not noticed a sudden thump of a gear clicking in, or any unwarranted surge in power. I say unwarranted because the memorable times this has happened, I've wanted (and received) all of my power immediately after the incident to avoid collision.

So i have been reading some of the posts of the issue with no power when u put throttle down and its like there's a delay as such. I have a similar problem it has been happening since i got the car but i'm not sure if it's the same problem as what you all have but let me know if i do have the same issue maybe im wrong . So to give you a an example when i was on my way home from the SPOC/VWWC meet. I was at a set of lights next to a alfa GTA now i have had this happen a few times previous to this GTA but i will talk about the GTA story...

So what happens is, I'm in S1 or /D1 revs are at 1k put throttle just a alil so the revs are at 1.2k. kinda like launch control but not... Light goes (Green).... throttle all the way down.... now at this point you have 2-3 sec delay before everything starts to go, it's not the TC there is no wheel spin . its like when you put your foot down if its half or full it takes that 2-3 seconds for eveything to say (HELLO). it's quite annoying at times. Anyway at this point the GTA is at one car ahead and it stays that way. so what im saying is if i didnt have this 2-3 second delay at the Beginning it would of been a different outcome.

So can this be fixed with a dsg tune ?
is this the same problem you all have?
    is this a new problem?

    help! please.
