Unfortunately, if it's a dealer fitted one mate, it could be completely different to what all other dealers are fitting. I think most people who got Bluetooth before it became standard fitment went down the genuine 9w2 or 9w7 route...

    Our TDI is dead...
Yesterday my sister was driving the polo and the glow-plug light came on (ecu fault, I think). Car went into limp mode (didn't rev at all), she turned the engine off and back on again, and all was well. Called Berwick Volkswagen that afternoon and they said "If the car is running normally and that light doesn't come on again, it's fine." So we didn't worry about it, until about 30 minutes ago when I get a call from my sister saying "My car's stuffed... It did it again". Called Berwick VW again, they (supposedly) woke up their service manager who was at home and said "If it starts and runs normally, drive it home and try not to drive it as much as possible but if it starts feeling different then call roadside assist." So, mum's gone to pick my sister up in the Megane (which by the way, is working perfectly) and we're gonna ask Berwick VW if we can leave the polo at their dealership.

    *sigh* Volkswagen ownership, aye?

May I suggest that if "turn it off and back on again" is the official line from Berwick Vw, take it somewhere else. Volkswagen assist which you get with the car should tow the car and get your sister back home no worries as well.

I do agree with you but it's sitting at their dealership now, so I suppose we'll just have to see what they can do on Monday...

Hmmm... Turns out it could four vacuum hoses that were eaten by rats. Berwick VW said that their diagnostics say that the problem is EGR valve A and B, and that they are controlled by these hoses. One of them is in Sydney and the other three are in Germany – $400 all together and up to three weeks for them to arrive. The best thing? Because it's not a warranty job, we don't get a car. Just excellent........

Bloody hell mate, I think $400 for hoses is a tad rich though, especially vacuum lines!

    Hi guys,

Just a quick update on some of the issues I've had (good news actually)

    1. Dash rattle/vibration - In recent weeks, the rattle/vibration/constant drone of the Actuator seemed to be getting louder and more annoying each day, to the point where I popped the bonnet tonight and tried to take it out. Alas, I had no luck really getting my hand in a decent position to pull this off, but I did manage to literally no more than "fiddle" with its position.

Anyway, I took it for a quick spin and WOW! Vibration/rattle completely gone, engine sounded amazing and could even hear more induction noises. Trust me, I'm not handy and the furthest thing from a mechanic, but whatever I did in shifting it had immediate benefits. Not sure how long it will last, but at least I can point VW in the right direction if I need it fixed.

Give it a go if you like, check out the sound actuator thread for more info. I might have just fluked something but you might too!

    2. Squeaking front seat - this also appears to have been rectified simply by adjusting the seat height. I'm a little higher than I'd like but it's silent which is awesome.

Best of luck with your Polo GTI - they're wonderful to drive when nothing is going wrong.

    Update:
They've taped up the hoses and run some more diagnostics and found that both EGR valves need to be replaced, under warranty luckily. Don't know how long that'll take, but at least it won't cost us anything more than the hoses.
