I've also had some noises coming from the front left wheel. Just had my car back from the 15k service and now every time I turn a heavy right you will hear a rattling noise coming from the left wheel. It's not happening when I hit any bumps or anything and at some times it's just random.

I have no idea what it is but I'm getting it booked in at VW again for a check up.

    Anyone experienced this?

I doubt it's a CV at only 15000kms. Check your under-body trims, one might be loose...

Ask Barloworld Moorabbin - I'm sure they can pin it on the CV.

I get this sort of rattle too sometimes and I'm suspecting a strut top mount bearing.

Ok so took it to exoticars this arvo, they pinned it to be the gearbox. Also they found a puncture in my left wheel too so that adds to the in balanced steering.

I've got it booked in for next Wednesday to get checked! Hopefully it's not something serious but it wasn't something they could fix. They also said to be persistent with them coz they will try and palm the warranty off. Apparenly they get bonuses for more warranty claims they palm off.

Pinned it in the gearbox huh? Which part? Why does it only happen with right hand steering lock on? Why can't it be fixed? These are questions you need answered before going to VW and saying "exoticars said my gearbox is stuffed so you need to give me a new one" because there is a very expensive part of this car that will rattle and vibrate due to the nature of its design.

    Hey gavs

It doesn't always happen when on full right hand lock. It's happening to the left front wheel but can happen at any point, even just cruising on a highway I may hear it rattle it's just more predominant when I'm turning right. However you can scratch that because yesterday on my way to exoticars I tried driving heavy with sharp left and right turns, went over some bumping roads and nothing but then just cruising down a hill I heard it happen and when pulling into the driveway the guy from exotic heard it from the outside.

He jacked the car up, put it in neutral and he went under my car had a look moved the wheel manually backwards and forwards and said he can hear it coming from inside the gearbox. I think he then checked the drive shaft to see if it was loose and said that looked fine. He couldn't understand why my car was pulling to one side though until he then found a puncture in the wheel which obviously caused that. The noise is still there but my car now drives straight.

Whatever it was he said the CV joints looked fine. I also mentioned this on another thread that when I change gears I hear a mechanical sound which kind of sounds like cogs cranking, it's mostly when downing gears. Someone said it's normal and it's just the DSG doing it thing so I thought it was fine...Something makes me think that it's not normal coz day one of having this car I never heard it before.
