Good idea! Thanks mate!
Any 2011 POLO GTI OWNERS PLS READ!!!
Got my Polo GTI delivered yesterday (very happy after such a long wait), have a couple questions being a new to VW:
1. When the headlights switch is set to the 'O' position, are there meant to be any lights on? None of the 3 headlight
switch options seem to have no lights turned on while driving. The 'O' position keeps the small bulbs on in the
headlights. :S
2. Can you turn on the cornering lights automatically?
3. There's no rear foglights or cornering lights am I right?
Thanks a ton to whoever answers this,
Cheers!

1) 'O' leaves the daytime running lights on (which is the dipped beam at slightly less than full intensity as far as I can figure). This is how they've implemented DRLs in the 2011 GTI.
2) GTI has no dynamic cornering lights
3) There's a single rear foglight (switch the headlights to the middle position and pull the switch out to turn it on - leave it pushed in all the way and you can turn off the DRLs if they annoy you...I've learned to accept them being on).
Do you mean to say that if you push the switch into the dashboard whilst in the middle position ('O') it turns off the DRLs? I didn't even know the switch could be pushed in. You mean it can be pushed it so that it's not level with the dashboard right, it actually goes in?
I thought there were cornering lights...the dealer was explaining them to me on delivery.
What are the lights next to the fog lights for? When I have everything switched to on incl. fog lights, they didn't light up which is why I assumed they were the cornering lights and turned on depending on steering wheel position.

Nope you can't push it in. Just have it in the middle position but without pulling the switch out. With the switch in that position your headlights are off which is why the DRLs (which are really just headlights) go off.
The cornering lights are only a part of the non-GTI Sports pack, GTI doesn't have them (except in the Xenon version...forgot to mention that before...it may also change the DRL thing but not sure as I don't have them).
So people said in the past about an issue of fading of the window seals on all passenger/drivers door (black seal).
Just had it looked at apparently its a production fault called "Chroming" where a milky white texture will pop up on the seals then later on fading.
VGA is sending a rep out to look at it in a month or so![]()
Non Xenon equiped GTI's do have static cornering lights, they are found in the second light housing next to the foglight.
1) you will always have lights on, it's part of a safety push for vehicles to have DRLs to make cars more visible during they day, especially during dawn and dusk.
2) Rear foglight comes one when you flly pull out the headlight switch, first stop is front fogs, sec.... Hang on, I'll just say my normal piece here about the owners manual and how many questions are easily answered and how many little thigns can be found in there
3)
