As far as I know you only get static corning lights with the Xenon option that also comes with DRL's.

For Joe/Gavs, my dash doesn't illumintae with the DRL's just on - only when I turn the main light switch to parkers or full. From what you said Joes this sounds to be the same as you, but Gav's it seems yours is different. Can you please confirm?

Also, goes anyone know whether the central locking can be programmed to autolock once you drive off?
For non Bi-Xenon equiped models, the static cornering light is in the fog lights and will illuminate at speeds below (I think) 40kph and dependant on a specific steering angle.

Yes, my dash is illuminated all the time as soon as the ignition is switched to "On". In accessory, just the needles are illuminated, looks like this is a programming thing that can be activated at the dealership.

Finally, yes, you can have automatic locking enabled at the dealership, believe it kick in at 15kph...

Mine does that. You hear the doors lock as you increase speed, around 15-20kph. But I don;t give my car a chance to lock at 20, it manage to do it around 50kph

Here's how mine is currently setup

    1. Dash lights only lit when lights are set to park or on, only dial needles are illuminatied with drl's
    2. When locking car if you keep lock button held down after 2nd click the windows close

    I'm happy with these settings.

The only change I'll request is programming the doors to lock at 15kmph

Should the Auto-Climate control display brightness also change when I change the brightness of the dash lights? Mine doesn't.

And, I think my electric mirror control had lights, but can't remember. No lights atm.

    Can someone confirm this?

Read in the paper yesterday that there have been some issues i think with both engines (1.2 deffinate, as it was a complaint about the 77TSI and 1.4 petrol) with misfires. Havent had that happen yet, curious if anyone else has. only time i have ever had it run rough was at startup and the update they installed when i was last in fixed that not a problem.

Called Chatswood Classic to get may engine bay rattle fixed and the Service Relationship Consultant claims he has not heard of such a problem. But nonetheless he will have someone look at it. Now that's a worry! Might have to hunt down the service bulletin to help them out. Let's hope they don't create a new problem or two during their look around.

Just drove my GTi for the first time at night and opened the glove compartment ...... no light. Could someone please confirm if there is a light? I can't seem to find it.

nope, no light. It does have an aircon vent to chill it down nice, well, in summer, I have my climate control at 22.5 so that's plenty warm to melt chockies

Cheers Gav. Personally would prefer the light but put your foot down and all is forgotten!
