Hey Trepid4tion, I think the rain sensing wipers only automatically adjust with speed when it's raining eg. move faster as you increase speed and vica versa, at least that is the way it worked on my Citroen C4. I know it sounds a little misleading and one thinks that they should turn on automatically when it starts raining, but I don't believe it is the way they work, I could be wrong, but that is my experience.
your experience with Citreon is valid, but not relevant here.

The rain sensing wipers on a VW vehicle are activated via sensors attached to the windscreen (behind the rear vision mirror mount). The speed of the wipers does not vary, however, the intermittent delay will vary, depending on how much water is remaining @ the sensors after each wipe of the blades. So you may have a vary long delay between wipes, or the sensor may decrease wiper delay, to the extent that the wipers go to continuous wipe. IMHO should the downpour be of such intensity, the wipers will go to speed 2 (as if you had selected the faster wipe speed), but I am yet to experience that in 3 years of ownership with our MKV R32

Delay and speed do vary depending upon intensity, and YES you can leave it on setting one, without any rain and rest assured they will start when rain appears. As tested from Melbourne to Canberra

Get it checked out anyway of course, but don't be surprised if they tell you it's normal...

So your sayi8ng it could be normal?
This seems a lot louder than what i have expriecned in the past with other DSG's

Like I said - get it checked out anyway... It could be a completely different noise to the one mine makes... Mine is very dull and hard to hear with the radio on etc...

Mine is only noticeable at low revs/speed... Mostly when slowing down at the lights... During acceleration and cruising it's completely quiet...

In the last week I have noticed my GTI not running very well with a cold engine after I first start her up. I remember having this sort of trouble with old cars but not with new ones. Anyone else?

Rattle fixed (fuel line this time)...and the rear wiper dribble is a known issue on the Golf MKVI. Service department is writing to VW Germany seeking approval to apply yhe Golf "fix" (one way valve inserted into water line) to the Polo.

Also...side mirror adjusting nob has been replaced (under warranty)

Happens on my golf gti as well. I assume it is normal but would like to hear from an expert on this one.

It's normal... My 9N3 Polo does it too... It's just the cold start... Think of it as like a choke.
