Went to a couple mechanics and a Transmission dude today, They reckon the noise is definately coming from the gearbox!

Taking it to VW tomorrow lets see what excuses they will come up with

Is yours a DSG box? Your experience doesn't inspire me with confidence in VG, keep us posted on what they find, perhaps it's just an isolated problem, something that inevitably occurs with production made cars

JimNiko - The DSG box does make a bit of a dull clunking/grinding noise at low revs/low speed... I noticed this too when I first picked my car up and took it back to have it checked. I was assured this was normal (the service guy couldn't even hear it for ages as I drove him around... Said he's gotten so accustomed to the noise it doesn't even register anymore)... 6 months and 7000kms later it's still running fine... Touch wood!

Get it checked out anyway of course, but don't be surprised if they tell you it's normal...

Turned off my climate control today for the first time, and felt warm air on my face after a few minutes.

The climate control had been at 22, but when it's turned off via the rotary dial, it appears to let hot air in to the cabin...

Turning the unit on, and dial down to Lo, then off again the problem was solved....

...anyone else got climate control issues?

Nope. Have not noticed if any air comes in when it is off, but then its been on 18 since I got the car, even with the windows open <---helping the fight against global warming

I have just purchased a new polo 77tsi manual, and one day after delivery had to take it back as I had a miss at about 1000 rev every time I revved the motor or started in first gear. Each time the motor would give a distinct shake when the blip or inbalance would occur, and then once driven through it all was fine.Solitaires here in Adelaide reprogrammed the software, but that has made no difference. I also have a strange rattle which sounds like it comes with vibration from the engine only in neutral and on idle. At times it sounds like the polo is a diesel, but it fades in and out. At times it sounds like it comes from the engine, and other times from in the dash. Any clues anyone? Waza

    Hi Waza.

Ours had a rattle (front RHS) when the air cond was off and in idle.
The fuel line was vibrating against the body where it disappears down into the chassis and it appears to be typical of this model (77TSI) of POLO.
I have fixed it by sliding some 1/2" rubber A/C pipe insulation hose (avail from Bunnings) over the fuel line. It was slipped over the fuel line by slitting the A/C hose down the length, and then feeding it down over the fuel line until it reached the bottom - probably about 300mm - The rattle is now gone.
I really did expect a better design from VW on something so simple !

Well, it looks like it didn't take long for the DSG issues to start in this car either... I wonder how long it will be before the 1.4TSI's start blowing up like in the Mk6 Golfs....

    Hey guys,

Picked up a Manual TSI about 2-3 weeks ago (2011 built and complied), cars been going good until the last week or so. Noticed that on a cold start the engine surges between about 900 - 1300 rpm for about 2 mins... then drops down to the normal idle rpm. Its seems half the time it does this, the other half is normal where it will sit at 1100rpm for about 2 mins and then drop to 750.

The only other problems i have is that the rain sensing wipers don't work, they still act like the standard intermittent. And every now and then the Hill Assist (think that's what they call it) doesn't turn on. The cars going back to get this fixed so i think i might mention the irregular revving on start-up.

WOW, more problems. I hope VG start ironing all these issues out very soon. Hey Trepid4tion, I think the rain sensing wipers only automatically adjust with speed when it's raining eg. move faster as you increase speed and vica versa, at least that is the way it worked on my Citroen C4. I know it sounds a little misleading and one thinks that they should turn on automatically when it starts raining, but I don't believe it is the way they work, I could be wrong, but that is my experience.
