I've had a few problems with my Polo which I would love some advice on...
Firstly, I have been having the really rough idle from cold start and the incredibly noisy engine rattle when idling at approx 500 rpm - I took it into my closest dealer last week and they ran diagnostics, told me the software was all up to date etc, but still couldn't do anything about the problems which irritated me greatly!
Secondly, my Polo, which has only done about 5000ks, just died on me today as I was driving down the road - power steering died and fortunately I was on a quiet road so managed to wrestle it onto the side of the road. It's being towed to the dealer tomorrow as the roadside assist team couldn't figure out too much other then the fuel injection system wasn't working.
Has anyone else has their Polo just die on them yet??? What should I tell the service place about the rattling??

    Thanks!!

Is the car DSG-equipped, and do you left-foot brake?

Does the rattle occur under load (ie, accelarating)?

Nope - it's just the manual transmission which means I'm boring and brake with my right foot and the rattle is only occurring at idle - when it's between 500-700rpm.

Not the normal Polo problem - Polo 77TSI is 6 days old and 370 klm on the clock - went to go home at lunchtime to enjoy a work paid half day - flat tyre. End result it has 3 holes very close together - Bob Jane say cannot repair - too many holes close together - $240 and up to a 3 week (due to festive season holidays) wait for a new tyre they have to get from Melbourne. Not particularly happy at the moment.

Yep, we had the same issue when the dealer principal's wife drove for God know how long on a flat 17in tyre on the only Polo with a sports package we had. Took forever to get a new tyre for it. 3 weeks later, she did it again in a MK6 GTI, and trashed the rim at the same time. If it was anyone else in the dealership, they would've been shot on site...

Are you willing to privately name and shame this dealer principle to Volkswagen group? as it would help others from a bad experience with this Dealer principle allowing his wife to possibly destroy a future owners ride with unseen problems down the track.

That dealer principal is no longer employed by us, therefore his wife is no longer trashing wheels and tyres.

And no, I'm not willing to divulge in any further information

After driving my car for about 20 minutes today, I parked and turned the engine off. Decided to park at another spot so I turned the engine back on and turned on the A/C. Hot air started blowing, like the heater was on, even though the temperature was set at 22 degrees Celsius and it had been cool throughout my drive prior to that. Turned the A/C off and back on and the problem was solved. Anyone experienced this before? It's a Polo 1.2 TSI, about a month old with 1200km on the odometer.

I have now had my polo for 2 months with 1800 kms on the odometer. I have experienced rough idling when I first start the car in the morning (not always doing this) and also some noise from the passsenger side firewall when the car in accelerating under load (always hear this noise). The noise is not really a rattle more like engine noise. I am not sure if the noise is normal and cannot remeber hearing it when I did a test drive and my mate has a golf that does not make a noise like this. Is any other owner hearing the noise under acceleration? It is more prevelant when the A/C fan is running. Was goiig to have rough idle looked at by dealer but also would like to know more about noise before I raise this as a problem.
