Nah it's not under warranty. I have that statutory warranty still with the dealer so we'll see how it goes.

How could you tell when your clutch was slipping? Are there early symptoms.

The MFD in the 6R Polo failed to come on this morning after unlocking the car with the keyless entry. It looked like it was slightly backlit but remained blank for the entire journey, no display at all. No problems with it on the way home, now working fine. Has anyone else experienced this?

Hi guys, for anyone with the CGG(1.4L) multipoint motor that is having issues with cold starts by means of misfiring and stalling. Go to any dealer and request that the update "39DF" be carried out in regards to your issue. Will fix the problem right up.

So, left the car with Austral and they called me later that day to tell me about what they had found.

    - The radio had a fault and had to be replaced.
    - A piece of metal was in the brake pads
    - my LHR shocks were leaking.

They ripped into the dealer that sold me the car and also got into touch with VW. They booked in a appointment for me the following week (they had to order the shocks) and also offered me a courtesy car for the day.

These guys were such legends about it (a guy named Tom in particular) that it made me a lot calmer about the whole issue.

All in all now to enjoy my car.

    Old Post:

    Hi All

Just picked up my new Gti which was delivered 18 April 2014 (with 10 kms on the clock). The only optional extras I got was the tinting and VW 17" Motorsport wheels.

Since then, I have driven the car about 1,500 kms in the 2 weeks (as part of the break in process). As much as a I love the hardware in the car (its has been a absolute joy to drive), I have had the following issues which has been detracting (and unexpected):

    - Stereo head unit ("Radio")

The radio stopped working on the day the car got delivered. Some days, when I start the car the radio will turn on for a minute or so before turning off.

However on Sunday, the radio turned on randomly but, when the radio screen went off (again at a random time), the radio did not go off (like it usually does). The radio did not turn off even after the car was turned off, ignition key taken out and the car locked. After the radio was on an hour after I locked up, I called up the Volkswagen assist, who sent out a technician whose only choice after his inspection was to disconnect the battery.

Since he disconnected and reconnected the battery, the radio is back to its usual self (i.e. still does not turn on no matter what you do).

    - High pitched squeal from front wheels well area (sounds similar to brake squeal)

Since I have received the car, when idling along or just coasting to a stop, (less than 15km/h) I hear what sounds like a metal on metal high pitched squealing noise. Sometimes it pulses, sometimes its a constant noise until I come to a stop. Once I am moving faster than 15 km/h, or when I come to a complete stop, the noise completely disappears. I have checked the brakes (and also had the technician inspect it when he came for the radio) and came up with nothing.

I have already booked in a pit-stop service with Austral Volkswagen (at Newstead) this Wednesday to do a oil change and to look at the radio. I will also ask them to look at the squealing issues.

Such a pity since I absolutely love my car, hope they are able to resolve everything this service. Will keep you updated.

    Hi Guys,

I have owned my 2012 POLO 6R now for about a year and just recently after getting it back from its 30000km's service whilst driving i here like a "wong" noise coming when travelling at speeds of about 60-80km. It also stays there for a bit when i break and then goes away.

At low speeds the drive is very silent but only when i start applying the accelerator its gets a little louder.

Just annoys me as to what it could be and when driving you want a nice silent comfortable drive not a constant noise.

Not sure if its the wheels, or bearings. (who knows)

Any help would be much appreciated.

Most likely they rotated tyres at the service. Rear tyres on vag cars always get scalloped. When swapped to the front you can then hear the noise alot more clearly.

Tonight's episode of Polo problems, brought to you by my sister's 66TDI Comfortine:

Engine light, ECU light, and limp mode. Gotta love VW motoring.

Should have bought a Corolla at this rate of failures...

The flashing wire is the glow plug light. Either the module/relay is dead or a glow plug has a short / open circuit. Shouldn't cause limp mode though...

In TDI models, yes that is the glow plug light, but when it's flashing it's an ECU fault (per owners manual and VW themselves) plus I have plenty of experience with that light and it has caused limp mode every time it has flashed.
