When you thought it couldn't get worse....

VW assist is now run by Allianz. The serviceman who came to look at the car didn't even know what a engine light meant. He asked to look at the owners manual to look at what it means. He then read out the text in the manual to me and told me to drive to VW. They do not have access to read error codes, or do anything half useful.

I am driving into VW tomorrow for a 3 day wait for them to probably clear the code and return the car.

    New Polo problems - Register

    HALP!
I warmed up car this morning and began driving when it was two bars off the 90degrees.
Gear box once car was on road in D, was stuck in 1st gear! I pulled over and turned off engine. Restarted the car and the car kept first and second gears very long.... Now it seems to be working fine... I have the 6R Polo GTI. I also had the clutch replaced about 6 months ago as it kept slipping (warranty ) I'm at 62000s now

(I've just driven the gf to work, city driving and it seemed to clear out - gears working fine, it was just leaving the house. I'm back at the house and just before I drove around the blocks, had car in D with windows open and it was all good, drove a few blocks in M mode doing gears my self, all good)

What could have made first and second sticky and stuck this morning?

Aside from the dsg being a piece of junk?

I'd say that the mechatronics unit is failing with the valves inside dying. If it was clutches it would be all gears because the 2 valves that control both the clutches would have done the same thing on every gear.

It could also be related to a buildup of clutch dust in the bell housing, it might be making things a little unhappy or the clutches have just taken this long to show signs of incorrect installation due to enough material now being removed off the matin surfaces....

Take to dealer? ASAP? I'd be needing a loan car so might take a bit longer to get loan car... Is it a must I take immediately?

Personally I would never idle a car up to temperature It will heat up faster when under load Just drive it quietly till it comes up.

Is your car covered by the earlier 35c1 dsg recall where they replace the whole mechatronics unit or the newer oil change recall? If so and there is an issue which is making the vehicle perform adversely then I'd be getting onto customer care. In all honesty I don't believe for a second that it was only the ones of a certain build that were affected. If that was the case, why are so many more just purely getting the oil changed out when it was compounds in the original oil causing the electrolysis anyway....?

I just got my Polo back after 4 days, turns out the brake pressure sensor failed due to corroded cables. What a load of BS. 1.5 years and cables/cable ends are corroding?

Just curious if the newer polo my14 model has some of these issues? How many recent buyers are having issues, as much as the car drives nicely, I am concerned by the size of the thread.
