Thread: New Polo problems - Register

That's right . . . $33 I was quoted a few weeks ago when the car was a few days within warranty. The "don't-give-a-****" service manager at Barloworld Five Dock insisted it was not a warranty item.

I was so shocked at the cost of the replacement part I sold my 6R. Gave the purchaser $40 off.

Merely a list all of the unusual sounds that have emerged from the mighty polo.

77tsi comfortline MY12 20,000km.. been in my posession for a month or so and i have never
experienced so many beeps, rattles, clunks and pings since i ran my mates VB commodore out of oil AND water (not my fault).. and it still drove afterwards

*soft clunk and light tap feeling from the brakes upon use after start.
*clunk from the steering after starting up and making first turn/s
*very high frequency beep when the hill assist is on and about to release?
*VERY hard thuds/jolts when driving fast over ****ty pieces of road.. very effective driver reviver
*wind/air coming through the seals/windscreen/i have no idea
    *various transmission noises
*annoyingly loud gearbox shudder at times.. ****ty clutch

And of course it makes some great noises and is very quiet most of the time. This isnt a whinge thread.. just some observations in my short time with my polo.

I hear a rear muffler delete is an effective operating noise silencer

What sounds has your polo made so far?

The first soft clunk of the brakes on start is probably the ABS system self test, my Camry did that although I haven't noticed it in my GTI.

This post would be great merged into the appropriate main thread:

    New Polo problems - Register

on topic: I believe that click from the brakes is in fact the ABS self test, clunk in steering could be worn out bushes?

I had the centre console latch break as I used to let the lid fall and lock itself. After constantly doing this the part failed. It was fixed under warranty luckily.

I tell you i hate posing in this section!

Well my clutches are stuffed again

For months it was only slipping very slightly in 5th (in manual mode) but now it's all odd gears, excluding first surprisingly (for now)

Still I have to do the run around trying to get a new one installed...

Just shows the revised clutch did sh*t all as it did about the same km as the first one.

Good news is the car has been booked in for a service in dec along with the recall/software update so I'll see if that does anything - will be very interested to see the difference if any

I've now got 2 squeaky front seats and the drivers side outer leg bolster is officially stuffed. GTI owners, have a feel of yours, mine started with the feeling of a line in the outside of the foam, then it feels like a crack and by the end of it, the crack will almost swallow your fingers.

Had the rattle in the engine bay for quite a while finally had VW Werribee look at it when i took my car in to get serviced last week, seems it was the inevitable fuel line rattle which they relocated and now the rattles gone... Hooray...

Apart from that im now 2 years into ownership of my TSI and the only problems ive really had were the rattle from the engine bay, the occasional boot rattle which VW said was an insulation issue in the boot which they fixed and has reduced the rattle but not gotten rid of it completely and the little ball from the string that holds the cover tray that lifts up in the boot seems to have gone walkabouts (btw anyone know where i can buy a replacement)

Yes, but if you get inspected, you can be defaulted (in NSW anyway) - See MrDeathLad's dramas!

The missus vrs took off weird, its like the clutch didnt fully release inbetween 1-2 and 2-3. today driving took off at lights normally.
I think it was 2 to 3rd but revs went up to about 3rpm but it felt like the revs kept on rising and gear change took good few seconds.

Also going up the driveway its bit shuddery and you can hear the clutch clicking constantly..

Whats the exact symptons of worn clutchpacks?
