I read it, just when I got to the windscreen wiper section I thought, well windscreen wipers, I assumed they're pretty simple to operate... that's why I skipped it. When I went back into the manual this morning I noticed it...my bad.

On another note, I'm taking my car in to get some rattles fixed. Hoping they fix it first go so I don't have to bring it back multiple times. I have a rattle coming from the centre console and one from the left/passenger side of the car. Anyone know where these are specifically coming from?

If you hit the passenger seat with your hand (bottom end) does it rattle? check the belt buckle. My centre console does as well sometimes, still havent figured out what it is yet(keep forgetting to test)if you do let us know.

Up for my six month service on Thursday and I have a page full of issues for the dealer to look at my GTI:

    - Rattle from the Front roof center console
    - RH Rear speaker rattle
    - Oil consumption test & Oil splatter accross the rear of the car from the exhaust
    - DSG issues (I believe will be fixed with the supposed software upgrade)
    - Additional trim rattles from the dashboard at low revs

Just passed 5,000kms today - and still in love with the car as if it was the first day I had it.. but the issues are beginning to niggle!!

16000kms for me and first service/6months

Car is fine after engine replacement at 14000kms

They didn't fix the rattle on left hand side interior of dash... But did fix the rattle on the right which began when they put in new engine... Oil lamp came on twice at 15000kms but they replaced oil and said if any issues come in for consumption test...

Definetively eliminated the dash ratling by disconnecting the Soundaktor on my GTI...!

You have a good guide on how to disconnect it http://www.vwwatercooled.org.au/foru...ght=soundaktor, it's very simple...

Try to take in your hand the central rear mirror: with the Soundaktor on you will feel a strong vibration at any rev, disconnecting it the vibration will disappear and also the dash noise will go away...

    Hrmmmmmm.....

I think my RCD-510 is dying or something funky is going on with the electrics. 3-4 times now the RCD-510 is blank when I start the car and then it comes on about 30 seconds later. The lights also very quickly flash on the buttons before it switches on.

Does anyone know how I can contact VW Australia head office? specifically what is the best method for complaints beyond dealership level?

First off bash your head against a wall because that is what it is like, then attempt to contact the complaints department through customer care 1800 607 822 and if you get nowhere with that, send an email to Proffesor Martin Winterkorn, the CEO of Volkswagen group. YOu won't get a response directly from him, but the office it goes to gets you a response and a case number a helluva lot quicker than going through VW australia!
