Yep agree totally I was just lucky that I could sit in the middle of the road for 15 seconds trying to work out what the hell to do.
Will have to take it out somewhere quiet and see if I can get it to do it again and contact the dealer.

Maybe not quite on a par with toyotas "rocket" car issue but still very serious. To me this is even more disconcerting than the oil consumption problem.

... not much comes to mind other then ... "what the fudge cookies in a firey pit of shet????"

omg read all these issues from page 1-well to here .. expecting a vw history to prevail and to solidify my conviction to buy a Gti polo ... now i dont know whether or not to warn anyone of whom i see own one on the road ... personally thank you everyone from helping myself and possibly others from buying such a lemon series of vw ... i really do wish you all the best with the issues though, and hope the dealers start obtaining some foresight to fix these issues at-house before final delivery to future customers, kudos to everyone of whom have given those in need advice

i find it pretty funny at the incompetence of some dealerships that a lot of you have had to use your own spare time to find the source of the problems that have arisen ... lol i have a sore neck from shaking my head so much from reading all these consistent problems ...

before i get flamed i understand that cars have problems, but i personally have not witnessed the numbers that are seemingly being faced by polo owners

more or less the issues have increased more from the GTI side of the Fence the TSI is the constant silly cabin sounds rather than critical components such as turbo/supercharger chirping, high oil usage etc.

Ok, so, this is a new problem:

The glovebox lid down to bottom right side seems to have come apart. Probably a manufacturing defect or a monday morning production run. I don't often open the glovebox hence I have not noticed until now.

I'll book in the car at Burwin VW and also get the fuel line / AC line rattle fix at the same time.

Anyone else had this glovebox coming apart issue?

If they agree the part was installed faulty request immediately the entire car is checked from front to rear to check that all bolts etc have been fastened, they should provide you with a loan car until such time a check is undertaken to make sure the entire car is in safe working order.

Honestly that whole press release saying that re-opening the South African/Spanish Plant to build Right hand drive Polos (like in the past making MKV Golfs) was the worse decision VAG made.

as a result, the poor dudes at vw service desks are having to pick up the pieces. think theres a chance that they will get their act together over there?

You can't blame where the car is made, it's the fundamental design and engineering decisions made at head office. After all, the Mk6 Golf GTI is made in germany and they're also having their fair share of problems.... You get the right factory in China and if you instill the proper quality control proceedures and SOPs etc, you will have a better factory than one in Germany. I can already hear you all saying bulls**t, but think about it. In China, there is almost a never ending supply of people to take your job so you HAVE to perform, in Germany, you and your mates don't perform, nothing much will happen untill a suitable replacement is found, or the whole operation moves off-shore....

I noticed being a passenger in the missus 77TSI with windows down that the DSG is bloody noisy at low speed/take off. Guessing its the dry clutch setup as my R's DSG doesn't do it. Don't think its a fault though

Yeah I figured as much since the R has wet clutch setup, probably should have put in an observations thread rather than the problems one hehe
