Wastegate actuator mate, guy in the UK had exactly the same issue. They just replaced the whole turbo and re-coded the car with a software update (pisses me off that they wait until you ask at the dealerships for it to happen at a service!) which stops the wastegate from operating at idle speeds which causes a rattle in teh wastgeate mechanism or some hoo-ha.

Just build it right in the first place, just like the oil issues and supercharger clutches on the 1.4tsi motor.....
It actually happened again before the scheduled dealer visit, missus rang me to say the car was driving like **** and had no power. Dealer to their credit organised a brand new 5dr TDI in a couple hours (but lol at being asked why the polo she was driving felt like a slug haha). They said today that it was the actuator and they're waiting on a new part to see if it fixes it. Sounds like they're gonna try and get away with just replacing the actuator so we'll see.

If the car has a 3rd major fault (after rattle and turbo) I suspect the missus will just drive it through the dealer showroom and end up on the news.....

    Hi all,

I have a Polo TSI version equipped with the 7 speed - DSG since Sept 2010 with 13000km in the odometres. It has gone through the first service with repair on the rattling noise in the fuel pipe lines happens during Acceleration.

Recently after the first service at South Yarra (Sept 2011), the DSG gearbox decided to act peculiar.
I think it happened more frequently when it is on start stop traffic with hill type situation.

The problem is when the car is turning and accelerates up a hill from standing still from 1st to 2nd gear, it doesn’t engage the gear properly and it will shook/juddered the entire car until it hit the 2nd gear on the spot.

This has happened a bit more frequently (3 months from the first service) and it really doesn’t give me any confidences especially this is a brand new car.

Other problems that still not fixed are
    – Another irritating noise during idling or on DRIVE mode during stand still under the steering rack but disappear when the car is on the move.

    - The plastic on the power window driver side has cracked.

Does anyone has the judders problem with the DSG gearbox?

I have the post a new thread on here please reply it there

Plastic issue on window seal - Have same problem left rear passenger window, VW said it could be a production fault but the item in question is being changed.

Irritating noise behind the dash you mean? sort of like something mechanical is vibrating against a plastic component thus making noise in the cockpit drivers side?

VW are fixing that for me as well on the 7th, will let you know what happens

With the Gear Box shudder, this sounds like a Software issue, you should ask VW if there are any outstanding software campaigns on the car just to be sure as i did hear a few months ago of someones polo literally "bucking" like a horse off the lights with a gearbox shudder, basically it fell down to a gearing issue.

I've had that rattle since they fixed the brake/fuel/air lines. They wanted to open up my dash so I kindly declined the offer and turned up my music. But do let us know if they managed to rid it. Thanks.

    Hi guys,

Just want to UPDATE you all that i just got back from the service.

Here are the reports from the Volkswagen South Yarra.

"Checked for shudder from transmission on take off. Found clutch to have failed internally. Ordered New Clutch Pack as required."
    PN: 0AM 198 141 K

"Checked for window switch surround is not sitting in place. Ordered new drivers Window Switch Surround."

    PN: 6R0 867 255 D9B9

This is a brand new car, beside being ****S happened or maybe i received a "Monday Production" car type.

Does this happened often to anyone DSG gearbox?!?!
Somehow the dealer mentioned, I can drive it off even the clutch is internally failed, with non-confident face. Seriously is this ok?

    Hear from you all soon.

Thanks for all the advices really appreciated it.

I have this exact issue, just bl@@dy started two days ago. Only in Drive, only at standstill with foot on brake. Noise to the right of the steering rack. Like a very loud tappit noise. As soon as release brake peddle....noise goes. If car is moving; no noise. If handbrake on, or in neutral; no noise.

    Any thoughts ??

Getting this exact issue checked monday, most likely they will have to remove the dash to rectify the issue but i don't care!!! if its under warranty i want it fixed! >.<
