This is more of a question than a problem, but instead of making an entirely new thread I thought this one would suit best.
People who have stock suspension on comfortline/trendline models, how far (roughly) does your suspension travel when going over normal speed bumps? Recently I've noticed that the suspension on my sister's Polo goes right down to the bottom, and actually hits the bump stops quite hard. This happens over basically every speed bump and it just doesn't feel right. Over the exact same bumps, at the exact same speed, our Megane doesn't go near hitting the stops at the bottom of the suspension travel.

    Any thoughts, ideas, comments etc?
    Thanks
    Alex Aescht

Im guessing you've checked for leaks etc. If there are no signs of damage, does it feel like youre riding on a very bumpy cloud? By bumpy I mean it bumps excessively.

You might just have worn out shocks.

It seems a lot more 'crashy' than it used to when it comes to bumps. Small-ish bumps in the road become very pronounced when you're in this car.

I haven't checked anything because I honestly have no idea what to look for, however I wouldn't be at all surprised if something is leaking/the shocks are worn because we live on a bumpy, dusty dirt road so the suspension gets a good hammering every day.

I'd hazard a guess and say you've got worn shock(s).

Depends on if there's still warranty or not? How high are your km?
If there's still some warranty and the Km's aren't to high you could give it a good clean so it's not to obvious you live on a dirt track and try your luck with a warranty fix. You might find a one dumb stealer ship.

If not then hit the Melbourne boys up on the best suspension joint near you. Maybe try and find a more robust option to get more life on rough roads. Most anything aftermarket will last a bit longer then factory. Do a google search and see if there are heavy duty sets.

Still in warranty until November maybe (not 100% sure), just passed 75,000 km today.

Will probably take it to a different dealer because Berwick VW are already well aware of our road. Hopefully they'll fix it.

    Thanks again

Point 2, don't go slagging off to one of the very few who campaigned for 12 months to get this bloody recall instated when others were happy stick their heads in the sand and who is still campaigning for others that are still having issues (like yourself) to also get some form of justice rather than the typical spoon-fed crap from VGA at my own expense.

3rd, for those who (rightly) say that the car is not an automatic and that you should drive it differently, I agree. BUT! Show me where it says in any material, provided to the customer or media explaining in fine detail how the car has to be driven that differs from a torque converter auto or DQ250 dsg even and I will accept that but until that time, remember that any car sold with 2 pedals and a lever that you put in a selector that makes the car change gears up and down by itself, irrespective of how it operates is still classed as an automatic. Footnote to that, why should an owner of a golf 118tsi have to drive their dsg equipped car differently to a golf GTI owner, just because some engineer can't do their job properly?

Finally, think of this as my last piece of advice for you.
Re-read what I wrote for you earlier and present that to your insurance company and the dealership you bought the car from. I sincerely hope it works out for you.
    Whoa Nelly!,

My comment wasn't aimed at you. Unfortunately the quote system on here doesn't include all previous comments.

My frustration is when people tell me how to drive the car and cant see that electronics do fail occasionally.
Fair enough the clutch 'should' disengage in a perfect world when the brake is applied but it doesn't every time.
Use your left foot, right foot or elbow the car should stop.

My examples were to highlight that even a massive company like VW has electronics/quality control problems which luckily seems like no one on here has experienced.

Sorry if I've offended any VW fans.

Erm, have you not read any of the posts in this thread/forum in general?

Only 189 threads with over 11,000 replies turn up when you search "Mechatronics" and 382 when you search "DSG problems"

    Some are duplicates of course

    Hardly worth worrying about LOL
