Na there are no diagnostics for the operation of the clutches them-self. The clutch actuators are monitored to make sure they don't go down past a pre defined point which would let the computer know that the clutch is low on material but that is not the issue that is happening here.

With our clutch problems the actual clutch material is becoming soft and been ripped of the clutch and in some cases getting stuck to the dual mass flywheel due to excessive heat (climate?). this is leaving glazed and elevated spots on the clutch which don't transfer torque correctly and thus the slip/shuddering, but the clutch hasn't compleatly been worn down all the way.

There is a sensor that monitors clutch temp but I have only seen it throw up an error on some cars, on mine it didn't.

For them to check all they have to do is remove a black plate that covers the clutch housing and physically check the clutch...

While I was at the dealers, they did have a graph with the tolerance for each of the gears. So yes, they did use some sort of computer to monitor the clutches, but I don't think it's just a VCDS thing.

Hence why mine showed perfect clutch operation yet was still throwing the fault code! They tested it and because the clutch actuator was jammed the plungers still moved along the full stroke.

New clutch needs to be bed in with the flywheel all over again, meaning no aggresive driving, sudden acceleration and hard launches for the first 1000km?

Fly wheel is separate on the DSG, the drive plate between the clutches is the part that causes the shuddering.

For a conventional manual that might be true but you are more likley to get more clutch slip with less aggressive driving becuase the DSG works the opposite way to a manual. The pressure plate pulls the clutch off the drive plate, not pushing it on.

Well, I haven't been able to replicate the issue...so no point taking it to the dealer to demonstrate something I can't do on demand. It did only happen the day after the fix...but as long as as it doesn't happen again, I'm happy.

After having the ventilation pipe changed to reduce oil consumption, I have noticed on cold starts, the engine is very rough and shakes quite a bit. This never happened before I had the pipe installed. Is this related or just a coincidence and I have more issues on my hands?

The Polo is going in for repairs on the 21st so I may as well find out all the issues before it goes in.

Not sure if its related to the pipe (Hard to see how) but after install of new pipe (1000km) mine started idling rough then a ticking noise from the engine and check engine light not long after. I scanned it before going to the dealer and got a low fuel pressure fault and something to do with the FPR. They diagnosed a high pressure fuel pump issue but after replacing still had the noise. They then tried to just get the engine replaced on oil consumption as it would be easier then pulling it all apart to find the noise and fix when it may have been a oil problem that caused it, and to fix then have to replace again when it became the engine would waste time but HQ said no. So now there pulling it apart. Still waiting to find out the issue. They did overfill the oil when I had the pipe done but hard to judge if it was enough to cause damage.
