With that Sports Pack and the 17s that come with it, I must say it really is a looker in the flesh. Went over to my local dealer (Chatty) and they had a grey one right there. I wouldn't buy one as I don't buy in that class of car, but if i did it'd be hard choosing between a Polo Sports Pack 1.2TSI/1.6TDI (I'm a diesel person too) and a Fiesta Zetec - both are exceptionally good cars. Shame both aren't Euro built, and no I wouldn't care about the price if they were...

ahhhh screw it i might have to go for a drive and check this out.

but the bloody pricks are only bringing the 66tdi into australia. maybe because 77kw is too much for us backward australians to handle, just like the scirocco?

and from what ive seen from the conservative tunes for the 77kw tdi, it begs the question if despite a beautiful 1.6L commonrail, they glued a tiny turbo onto it....

and the 66kw tdi isnt even very good fuel economy- 4.7L/100 when audi has already announced 3.8L/100kms for the 77kw 1.6tdi in the upcoming A1.

i always said its gonna be diesel diesel diesel for me from now on, but if tiny turbos mean low torque figures post-tune, and if fuel economy is still going to hover around the same level as the old pumpe duse engines, i'd have to re-consider getting the petrol twincharged....

dont give a rats about power, its all about torque to me, and its not looking like the new aus spec polo is as mild-mod friendly as my current 1.9tdi from that perspective.

I just had a look at the new polo at my local dealer. Really doesn't do it for me. So I won't be selling my
    gti to get one.

Think I'll just have to save up for a facelifted XR5

There's a detailed local press release and 2000px sized images now available on AUSmotive.

I just went and had a look over the car at one of the local dealers, and I reckon the new Polo looks great. The next GTI should be a cracker!

Had a look at these. Look good with the 17's. They don't appear to be much bigger than the 9n3? Nice interior, but still a bit behind the golf. The engine bay for the 1.2 TSI looks half empty haha..

I think they'll sell very well for VW.

So it looks like the GTI may have a manual transmission after all? If it comes in a 5 door, I will be so tempted to upgrade...

Test drove the 1.2TSI with DSG today. Great little car. Performance is decent. Have to love that turbo kick you get. One thing I did notice though was a bit of a rattle under hard acceleration. This may have been due to the fact the car had done only 40km's though? Still a bit concerning none the less.
