    New MY12.5 Polo GTi tips/hints

    Hi Guys!

I am going in to collect my MY12.5 Candy White Polo GTi (with bi-xenon's, rear parking sensors, tints, paint protection, extended warranty) tomorrow and would like to know any hints and tips previous new car buyers have when collecting new cars.

I bought my 2005 Honda Integra Type S second hand, so I don't have any brand new car experience.

There is one main thing I would like to know, which is what breaking-in/running-in steps I should take with this new car?

I am at work, so gotta cut it short for now.

    Regards,
    Andrew.

Congrats on your new car! Hope you love it.

There have been a few discussions about break-in/run-in on this forum and the general consensus seems to be (which my experience supports) to get the car up to running temperature, and then go hard.

Either your car won't show any problems and you'll be having a great time, or it will show problems sooner rather than later and you can get them fixed. You've got the new car warranty, so you want to try and find any problems the car has before the warranty expires rather than after.

I changed the oil and filter myself at 5000km (and am about to do another oil/filter change and a wheel rotation when I hit 10,000km).

This was my first new car too so I'm not an expert, but it's worked for me so far.

I'm taking the same approach as above. Get it to operating temp then drive it like you stole it haha

I figure the same, if something isn't right i'd like to find out while it's still under warranty

Ohh I would like to know what your thoughts are coming from a Type S. I owned a Type R DC2 and still have it. I was either getting the Type S or Polo. Ended up with Polo coz I guess the comfort won over.
