New ICE installed - Helix PP20 amplifier + Helix PP7S subwoofer!

Just got done installing an amplifier and subwoofer and let me tell you, it sounds awesome! It's well worth every penny. Paid around 700 AUD for the amp + sub + cables.

To make things as easy as possible I chose a Helix PP20 iso plug 'n' play amp along with a Helix PP7S subwoofer. There's no wiring needed at all, it's 100% plug 'n' play. You just connect the iso cable from the amp to existing iso cable in the car. Took me about 1½ hour to install. The hardest thing was to remove the trim, but it really wasn't that hard after all. Thought it was gonna be worse.

The sound I have now is SO much better than before. It has a very potent bass (without being overwhelming) and really just a clearner sound all around. Another great thing is that the Helix amp lets you download and install (via a microSD card) EQ presets specifically made for your car. It saves you alot of time messing around with the settings yourself.

Here a few pics for you guys. As you can see the sub is 100% hidden along with all cables. The amp is mounted under the storage compartment in the front, almost hidden, but still accessible.

If you filter the bass from the signals going to the normal speakers (ie a high pass filter) so that the sub takes over as they tail off, you will get even cleaner sound and higher volume before distortion with no bass hump (since the overlap is removed).

    Inline capacitors can do this.

From the look of things, this does the DSP work for all of the speakers including front & rear high-pass, sub low-pass as well as timing correction and EQ. Very interesting design

Oh OK - so the amp acts as an interceptor for all signals coming out from the head unit. Then all is sweet (my head unit gives me all this control but most won't).

I thought it was only handling the sub output from the main channel signals.
