    New Headunit

    Hi Guys,

I replaced the headunit in my Polo last weekend. It has full integration with the steering wheel controls and it works really well.

This is the gear I required:

    Pioneer AVH-P3250BT
    Connects2 CTSVW002 (CANBUS Interface)
Connects2 CTPIONEERLEAD (Lead for Pioneer Unit)
    Connects2 CT23VW01A (Facia Kit)

Here are the some pics (don't mind the microphone, that's only temporary!):

    Thanks

Oh I forgot to mention, I haven't bought a Antenna adapter yet so the radio doesn't work, I thought I would mention that incase someone else is going to do the same.

I got mine from Jaycar - well under $5.00 since some places that stock audio units don't have them.

Looks good! I'm still trying to decide which headunit to put into my Polo when it arrives... Leaning towards the Sony XAV70BT... Always preferred Pioneer, but just not overly impressed with any of their current touchscreen models...

Can I ask where you bought the Connects2 gear from? Cheers

I got it from incarexpress.co.uk, they were very slow to deliver though. I got my Pioneer unit at JB when they were having a one night sale with 30% off

So many of you would recommend doing this rather than choosing the audio package with the RCD510?

Well I would. I think it has alot more functionality over the RCD510.

Allegiance - do you mind clearing something up for me please? I'm still confused about exactly what parts are required to install a new headunit...

You describe the CTSVW002 as a CANBUS adaptor, but the Connects2 website has it listed as just a steering wheel control adaptor... After speaking with guys from Wow and JB, they have led me to believe that they are two separate adaptors?

The guy from JB also mentioned that the VW's have an internal amplifier between the headunit and the speakers and if you want to bypass this amplifier and use the headunit amp, you need yet another adaptor!

Is any of this right? Are there any other parts you used that aren't mentioned in your original post? Thanks for your help!

CTSVW002 is both a CAN-BUS and steering wheel adapter, all in one! JB HIFI may be referring to the PAC units, which I believe you did need two of them.

My Polo doesn't have an amplifier, they may be referring to a Golf with Dynaudio?

The only thing you require that isn't on my list is a aerial adapter, which I still haven't got!

I ended up re-wiring my front speakers as I could never find where the tweeter and mid range driver cable went. It's actually not too difficult to do.
