I understand there are more claims on DSG gearboxes that twincharge motors (that's what my friends at VW tell me) and even then, the DSG claims are an extremely low percentage of overall units sold.

The engine has never been recalled, its in it's 7th year or so of production, its still being produced to date, its won several awards including "engine of the year".

Your "advice/opinion" does not seem to be based on first hand experience with this engine or platform, mine is (and yes, the community benefits from this I hope). I assume your advice/opinion is based on what you have read on the internet or from talking to people (correct me if I'm wrong).
How very tiring this is getting. Youre still trying to attack my credibility?

For the record I have several dealer contacts in both the service and sales departments that I am quite friendly with. Do you know how to make friends? Youre not doing a very good job here so far.
I dont know where you get your information from if its not from talking to people in the know or reading it? Mental telepathy perhaps? Or is it possible that you are truly omniscient? Did you perhaps pull your engine apart, inspect it, and give the design your personal tick of approval?

I appologise if my opinion doesnt sit pretty with you and I sympathise with you in regards to the thousands of dollars invested in developing a tuning program. Unfortunately for you this does not make my opinion any less valid and as you can see from the responses above, people tend to agree with me.

I suggest that now we have both made our points

    - Mine being that id pick a different car to use as a platform to modify
    - Yours being that you really dont like me much at all.

We can get back to the actual topic of discussion for this thread in a civil manner. Turbo upgrades for the 6R Polo GTI.

How are you going with the planned APR turbo upgrade kit? Its likely to be the only option available on the local market
What sort of power increase is expected?
How much is it likely to cost upon release?
What sort of release date are we looking at?

This is your chance to shine and put your product in the limelight which is what you should have done from the start instead of picking on poor me.

    Tim,

The internet is a tough place, if you can't handle it (and back up what you say with facts), don't comment.

As mentioned, its a great platform (Polo 6R) for modifications & we have dozens of happy customers running their modded Polo 6R's (some even members of this forum).

The planned "APR" turbo kit is going well, it has been track tested & dyno tested, and you can see from the results, its fast & reliable.

Power? over 200kw on 98 ron fuel with stock internals (transmission limited) - Thats already been achieved.

Costs? - completely depends on projected sales numbers - 3k to 3500 including software would be good.

Release date? Not sure, if anyone wants a pre production unit, we can supply now.

We can now remap the DSG, including the clutch hold capacity & the factory torque limiter & modified D & S programs. We also know what friction material is used in the clutch packs & also what margin VW have left in their calculations. We are working on a beefed up clutch pack, but that is by far the hardest part of the project (not that we have found the limit of the clutch pack yet).

There is a mirror project going on at APR's new UK Headquarters (shared with Volkswagen Racing), so the combined R&D data is being shared.

Guy, re the turbo upgrade - can I have my stock turbo sent to your shop to be modified and will that bring the price down? Also can I use my standard DP? I know I won't get the full benefits of the high flowed turbo. I'm still waiting for you to develop one

    Hi Brendan,

At the moment, it's only possible for us to modify a core turbo - we actually modify it larger (and use a different housing too - so not "high flowed") - buying new turbo's outright is currently cost prohibitive - that's why the question mark on the outright cost of the units.

Might work on the Golf 118 TSI downpipe next, Polo exhaust release is next week

Ah ok. Thanks for that Guy. So if it is $3k will that include software? Could I run stock DP?

    Edit:
Just read your previous post about software included.

The only person that all this is reflecting badly on is yourself Guy. One forum sponsor openly attacking another because of a 'mines better than your's' style attitude is laughable and poor form. Grow up child.

Tim has been in, and actively participated in this community from its inception, and is not just here to make money and push products.

Keep yourself in check, or I will.
