    my15 Polo 81tsi seating position

    Hi guys,
I have been driving the polo for awhile now. and i can't get to a comfortable seating position.

What i mean is. when i sit. my right leg inner muscle seems to get strained and sore after awhile. and it feels like a big effort to hold it straight for braking. i feel like my right leg has to curve left to hit the brakes.

I don't have this problem with any other car i drive ( Subaru BRZ, Mazda CX7).

Anyone else have the same problem? or any suggestions on seating position i should try?

Are the pedals off-set from the seat and wheel?

OK - How tall are you? Assuming your seat is adjustable for hight, how many pumps up is it & is the seat very far back. One more question, when you drive is your right heal positioned to the left or right of the accelerator pedal with your toe on it?.

I'm not sure about it being offset just feels strange. But I mean vw has sold heaps of these cars. So I have a feeling the problem is me.

I am not that tall. About 175cm.

Another thing is. When I sit there. It feels like the steering wheel isn't centered.

Anyone else feel this way ?

No. We have a mk7 Golf 90TSI manual and a Polo 81TSI manual and while the driving positions are different we have any problem getting the perfect position with either. To me there is no offset of wheel or pedals. The Golf has an obviously wider foot room area especially with the clutch rest but the Polo's is adequate. I prefer to use the Polo's carpeted wheel arch for the right foot rest when on cruise to the Golf's plastic rest because it matches the left foot rest better for leg length. The Golf has 30 settings for seat height and I use it on the 10th lowest where as the Polo has only 15 seat height settings and I use it on the lowest. Even then I feel like I'm sitting higher than I do in the Golf.

Have you spent plenty of time adjusting and trying all the settings of seat height, wheel rake and wheel reach in varying combinations?

I have tried most settings. at the moment i am experimenting on sitting higher or lower. then trying a combination of it. as i have tried sitting further and closer.

I have a feeling it may be the actual seats. these seats are the standard comfort line ones. doesn't have much side bolsters for the legs.

Would you all reckon this could be the problem?

I am now sitting slightly to the right and it has helped.

i feel the seat is more to the left(centre) of the car.

    strange huh

Ive got the same polo as you do and im about the same height too.. Imo the tsi hasn't got the very comfortable seats; the cushioning seems to be more solid than soft consisting of more hard foam. On long trips it can get very i do also get bit of a sore bum and back..

Ive got a Honda Civic hatch and the seats in that are a dream, super comfy.

The seats in our base mk7 Golf are better than the Polo but I've done 6800km in the Polo in 6 weeks and much of that trips of more than 2 hours and I've had no discomfort at all. And I'm an "old man" lol. What I would like is more side bolstering in the cushion but I can happily live with them. my experience checking the opposition under $20k is that there wasn't anything better on offer seating wise.
